The trickster is a favorite folklore trope for me. Those stories always take fascinating twists and turns.

It tastes almost bad enough for me to believe this! 🤣🤣🤣

Fascinating! Wish I were close enough to attend. All my best to the artists and facilitators.

The famine that ravaged Europe at the beginning of the 14th century gave birth to chilling tales of starvation and cannibalism.

Did you know that global warming has given us some of the most bone-chilling tales in all of #folklore?

Does the artisans coop have a secure platform for the sale of digital downloads? My biggest problem in finding a platform for starting up has been finding a *searchable* platform with high traffic that has a secure option for selling downloads.

When you can get it to $10, let me know. I don't like that I'm in that kind of situation, but I held out for working with someone other than Etsy and finally took a mentor's advice and started with Etsy because I wasn't able to afford invisibility any longer.

I will long sing the praises of President Z for this:

1. They can then spend their time on direction the NFP. 2. The director having a competitive salary gives the NFP credibility and helps to attract donors.

010

Marie Gail Stratford @mariegailstrat.bsky.social · 02/03/2025

Most NFP directors make low(ish) 6 fig incomes, which makes a lot of sense given the long hours and the responsibilities. When I serve as a board member for any NFP, I always advise good pay for the director for 2 reasons:

Marie Gail Stratford @mariegailstrat.bsky.social · 02/03/2025

Are you quoting that libel from the 1980s that has gone viral every Christmas? 🤦🏼‍♀️ The director of Goodwill makes a reasonable middleclass income for directors. I suppose you insist on being right and want disabled people to work for free at Goodwill or get no help at all because you read a meme.

I appreciate that you buy from individual sellers. If there were an easy-to-find solution that didn't cost a lot of money to join, I absolutely would sell there. People boycotting hurts sellers.

030

Marie Gail Stratford @mariegailstrat.bsky.social · 02/03/2025

Can I join and sell my downloadables without an investment here? I sell on Etsy because I can afford to sell on Etsy and these boycotts are hurting me.

Love this book! It's the first Octavia Butler novel I experienced, and I've since thoroughly enjoyed the sequel as well as another of her novels.

✔️ Exactly what I did today, after paying cash for a drink from a local coffee shop.

Yes, either by talking with them or by talking to other libraries or book sellers who had engaged them in the past.

000

Marie Gail Stratford @mariegailstrat.bsky.social · 01/03/2025

Exactly! In another lifetime, I worked in libraries, and as a member of the programming committee, I often scheduled author talks. One of the biggest issues was trying to make sure any authors we engaged could actually engage. 😳

Marie Gail Stratford @mariegailstrat.bsky.social · 01/03/2025

Yeah, I saved myself 8 or 9 hours, at least. LOL

000

Marie Gail Stratford @mariegailstrat.bsky.social · 01/03/2025

Ooh, I hate that. On occasion, when I'm thoroughly fed up with those spammers, I've been known to ask them to pay me for the time it takes me to deal with their emails. LOL I've never gotten paid, but I have gotten off the scam lists.

100

Marie Gail Stratford @mariegailstrat.bsky.social · 01/03/2025

In a rare procedural deviation (for myself at the time), I skipped the book and watched the movie when it came out. I'm glad to have seen it, but it wasn't good enough to inspire me to read the book. I've always valued time with my elders, so I didn't find the message to be all that life-changing.

110

Marie Gail Stratford @mariegailstrat.bsky.social · 01/03/2025

Oof! That's rough. Honestly, as a writer/publisher and artist myself, I find the sales and marketing to be the hardest part--but I also know to stay home/off social media when I can't be pleasant to potential customers.

Marie Gail Stratford @mariegailstrat.bsky.social · 28/02/2025

What a gorgeous piece! I hope the creator comes forward so we can recognize them.

Thank you! I've often been eschewed by scientists for my passion for folklore and history, and I don't understand how we can pretend those things aren't important as we consider the sciences.
