It does use N-SPC. It was a launch game so there was no way it could've used another driver. Checking on vgmpf it says so, though I'm not 100% it's compatible. I'm no expert though, so I may be wrong.

it's a matter of good effects, but yeah to get that sample stretch-y quality the only VST I use is the sampler (except for the EB Kraken of the Sea synth, that would've been a pain to do without a velocity-based bank)
