Numbers like these show time and again, that a little work on the right thing goes a very long way. @marianeum.bsky.social was very quick to update Monzo's R8 configuration and made the app much more performant along the way. ⚡️

Last year I attended a session on app performance by @keyboardsurfer.dev at @droidcon.bsky.social London and learned about some quick wins we could apply at @monzo.com. Curious about the results and the change? Read here: android-developers.googleblog.com/2026/03/monz...

Don't ignore this tip! We've switched to using the optimized proguard file & shrinking resources in our latest release and have seen a massive drop in all performance related metrics, with slow app launch metrics dropping >30%. All from a 5 minute code change!

We've been using Navigation 3 since early alphas and it's perfect for us. We looked for a navigation solution for a while until nav3 came along - nothing quite fit the bill. Nav3 is the perfect combination of being very flexible and solving the hard problems. Congrats on hitting stable!

Been working a little on iOS recently and while Android tooling has its issues it is just miles ahead of iOS when it comes to the IDE & build tooling

How is the Android ecosystem changing? The tags in the @droidcon.bsky.social London CfP submissions paint a very interesting picture! (bars represent actual counts, so both years are on the same scale) Some quick analysis in follow-ups

Github Copilot & co are great for diving into less frequent tasks. I could never make complex sql queries or regexes, but with copilot I can ask what I want to do and get a decent result, or ask it to simplify my very dumb approach
