Exactly! I’m trying to model that care when I review too. Because I never wanna be unhinged reviewer #2 🤣

What has been your experience with reviewers? We often hear how unhinged “reviewer 2” can be, but what positive experiences have you had with effective reviewer feedback?

3: they gave their feedback in a humanizing way. While they gave in-depth feedback, they did not attack our ideas or invalidate the importance of our work. It was clear that they were rooting for us while still having high expectations.

2: they sprinkled in compliments throughout their feedback. While it’s not necessary to create a compliment sandwich, it really helped with our morale. Even though we need to make changes, they highlighted the things we did well and that helps when embarking on the revision process.

1: they broke down their feedback by section so it was really easy to follow. And in each section they provided citations for us to explore to help us with the revision process.

I am excited to learn more about how we can be learning from each other across departments. How do you collaborate between teacher ed and SPED at your institution?

Reflecting on my time in Kenya at the Division of International Special Education and Services (DISES) annual conference presenting with @mboveda.bsky.social . I am thankful for our collaboration, because we too often work in silos when it comes to curriculum and instruction/ gen Ed & SPED.
