This story had me hooked almost immediately; from Maria's word choice and writing style to the narration expertly done by Justin Briscoe, I found myself completely captivated.

The setting feels like a cozy home that, perhaps, you've never been to before but feels like you're invited to stay, and you want to. Right away, we find ourselves caring for Dalton, our main character and wishing for change in his life. Soon enough, we watch as his dulled, greyed-out world suddenly and unexpectedly bursts with colors he long believed unavailable to him when he stumbles upon our female protagonist Tessa.

Their interactions leave one yearning almost as much as (if not more) Dalton yearns. I found myself, more than once, imagining what it would be like to be a side character cheering the two on as they become closer. Tessa's situation and vulnerability pulls at you, beckoning you to root for her. Drawn from real experiences women all over the world have faced, I found it near impossible not to connect emotionally to her and her arc throughout these paragraphs.

The twists and turns had me on the edge of my seat and, though I won't say which part, I once even needed to stand up and walk in a few brisk circles around my home to process the emotional ride I had signed onto.

The only complaint I have is that there isn't more of it. A beautiful read for all. Truly a Maria Caiazza masterpiece.
