I can’t believe nobody has posted this yet
It’s a tumblr post from a deactivated account
The first person posted “open rp” followed by a picture of some anime character. The picture is captioned “feh.. It's me, Inuyasha, the half-demon. I can defeat every demon who crosses my path. You think you can take me?”
A second poster has replied with a picture of Macklemore with a somewhat neutral expression, pointing with his arm fully extended. It’s captioned, “Macklemore pointed to the door. "go away, Inuyasha" he mackled”

Shawn McCreesh White House reporter

I'm one of the small number of journalists traveling with the White House press pool tonight. We were in a hall just outside the ballroom when the commotion first rang out.
Several things happened in quick succession.
Tuxedoed agents pulled out guns and began running toward the ballroom. White-jacketed caterers screamed and bolted for stairwells.
Pandemonium reigned as top cabinet officials were evacuated.
Robert Kennedy Jr. and his wife, Cheryl Hines, came out and were ushered into an elevator. Then Jeanine Piro emerged. The F.B.I. director, Kash Patel, came tearing across the hallway with two men in tow; [begin highlight] his girlfriend was hiding in a room with another man who was holding her hand. [end highlight]
Reporters are about to be taken back into the ballroom. The show will go on, apparently.

Duke’s Baldwin Scholars program ends female-only membership.
The move appears to be made in compliance with the Trump administration’s demands for universities to end DEI practices and comes at the heels of Duke’s new inclusive excellence initiative, which mandates University programming to be “open to all.”

The @wsj.com is pushing climate denialism in its newsletter today
Q: The Trump administration says CO2 isn’t a threat to public health. What does the science say?
The Trump administration’s stance on CO2 is part of a new effort to undo some of the Environmental Protection Agency’s responsibilities for regulating emissions. Ahead of public hearings on the contested rules this week, Eric Niiler breaks down the debate that is set to unfold.

A: Greenhouse gases including CO2 are considered air pollutants under the Clean Air Act, according to a 2007 Supreme Court ruling that said federal regulators must determine whether these pollutants endanger public health. Most climate and atmospheric scientists say increasing levels of CO2 are raising the planet’s temperature, which in turn is leading to more intense storms, rising sea levels and the risk of more intense drought and wildfires that endanger human health and welfare.

As the scientific consensus on CO2’s role in climate change has solidified, so too has the alternative view that more CO2 is good for the planet, and that it was a mistake to classify it as a pollutant. The Energy Department’s review of the science of climate change—the scientific foundation of the EPA’s effort to roll back existing emissions rules—argues that increasing CO2 levels will boost agricultural production, like a massive jolt of plant food.

Determining how much and how fast CO2 emissions will warm the planet in the future is still uncertain. Large-scale changes in the Earth’s ecosystem as the atmosphere warms are still being studied. Meanwhile, the Trump administration’s move to change EPA rules is set to kick off a lengthy legal battle over whether the government will continue to regulate greenhouse-gas emissions from vehicles, power plants and other industries.

These people have the critical thinking skills of toddlers
Yet her family says they have faith that Arpineh will be released, and believe that only hardened, dangerous criminals will actually be deported.
"I don't blame Trump, I blame Biden," Arthur says. "It's his doing for op borders, but I believe in the system and all the good people will be released and the ones that are bad will be sent back.
While many of those detained do not have criminal records, Aprineh is a convicted felon, which makes her a prime target for removal.
ICE did not respond to a request for comment about Arpineh's case.
Arthur says he doesn't know details of the burglary. They spoke briefly about it before they were married and then he forgot about what he considered a youthful indiscretion by his wife.
Instead, he focuses on his wife's good deeds over the last 17 years, volunteering with the local school district and bringing food to firefighters and police.
"We all make mistakes," he says.

*touches earpierce* I'm hearing that CNN frames headlines and articles like this because they like Trump and want him to win the election
Campaign surprises come at a dizzying pace
A composite photo of Harris and Trump
ANALYSIS
The White House is grappling with three challenges that could threaten Harris' hopes and offer an opening to TrumpThe White House is grappling with three challenges that could threaten the vice president’s hopes and offer an opening to the Republican nominee’s narrative of Biden-era negligence. A month before Election Day, the US faces the grave possibility of being dragged into a Middle East conflagration; a port workers’ strike could harm inflation-weary consumers; and political pressure is rising in the fallout of Hurricane Helene.

Trump, meanwhile, was hit on Wednesday by the unsealing of a 165-page document in which special counsel Jack Smith gives the fullest picture of his case in the federal 2020 election interference case. The ex-president has pleaded not guilty, but the filing re-injected his attempt to steal the last election into the frantic endgame of a campaign partially shaped by Democrats’ claims he poses an existential threat to American democracy.

Glad to see climate change mentioned here! (Fellow Massholes, stay safe out there)
Deadly mosquito virus has Mass. towns urging people to stay in at night
The virus spread by mosquitoes is rare, but serious: about 30 percent of people with the virus die, and many survivors have ongoing neurological problems.

By Anumita Kaur
August 25, 2024 at 6:45 p.m. EDTThe virus outbreak in Massachusetts comes as mosquito season has lengthened across the United States, The Washington Post reported. Climate change has fueled rising global temperatures, and for more than two-thirds of the United States, increased the number of “mosquito days,” meaning days with an average humidity of at least 42 percent and temperatures between 50 and 95 degrees.

The Northeast has warmed faster than the rest of the country and experienced the biggest increase in mosquito days. In Massachusetts, there have been an average of 14 more mosquito days compared with the period from 1980 to 2009.

Scientists warn that longer mosquito seasons could heighten the risk of outbreaks of diseases carried by the bloodsucking insects, such as dengue and malaria.

The tags read:
#remember US people: your elections dont just affect your country #they effect the world. #if republicans win it emboldens cosnervatives everywhere #and in such a world as that there can be no revolutionary change
They also wrote, “Prev these are some good tags”
On tumblr, “prev” refers to the person you reblog a post from.User electric-butter-slug commented on the post on July 2:
Those tags are LEGIT. Canada has gotten so bad in recent years because provincial governments are so confident overstepping in wake of Trump. I cannot stress enough how important it is that all Americans get out and vote.
I don't care how you feel more moral not voting because it matters so so so much and anyone trying to tell you otherwise is doing so to get Trump or someone like him back in power by using your non vote. It's bad for everyone.
Do not let them convince you not to vote.

Tumblr user estrogenesis-evangelion wrote on July 7:
all of the USamerican people going "bbut if i vote in the election, im culpable for the unjustifiable evils of the american imperial machine!" just love to paint people who realize that you still need to vote as like, too naive to understand their oh-so-principled moral stand, when the reality is that if you live in america and you're of voting age and you're realizing for the first time just now that you live in an evil country that runs on the blood of millions and always has, and if you somehow think that you can live here and work here and earn & spend money here and somehow none of that makes you culpable for the horrors that are done on your behalf, but voting does, or would, then you are so stunningly naive that you need to shut the whole fuck up.
Alt text continues on next image.Continued from previous image:

like. yes, the united states is a machine that turns colonial vampirism and for-profit genocides into capital, thanks for noticing, and welcome to the conversation. the rest of us have already figured out that 1. this centuries-old machine that kills people is not gonna just go away, or collapse spectacularly all at once, it is gonna need to be dismantled, and 2. it is not gonna be dismantled by november, and 3. i don't fucking know who told you that if enough people don't vote, nobody becomes president, but that isn't fucking true. The same post continues:
somebody is gonna be the president, and the president is gonna keep doing war crimes like the president always has because that's the president's job, and it will remain that way until we break the whole machine down. now who would you rather be in charge of it while we're trying to break it down: a senile old man who thinks he still needs to behave in ways that are decorous and won't cause bad press, or an angry old man who thinks cops should be able to shoot protesters with live ammo?
Alt text continues on next image.Continued from previous image:

you are being offered the chance to pick your opponent in the biggest hardest fight of all time, and you're bitching that you don't wanna because it would make you feel icky to act in a way that is strategic instead of emotional & performative. if you actually cared about the vulnerable people you claim you're doing this for, you'd be willing to suffer a moral injury to keep the evil destructive monster you live inside of from going extra-berserk mode, but no, you want to posture about how you can't taint yourself by "participating" in a process that you are already part of every single day. let us know when you're ready to join us at the grown-ups' table, shitheads. do not @ me idfc

this is project 2025, trump's plan for what he'll do if elected. whatever you think is in there, it's worse. watch a breakdown of the highlights here. this man wants to unravel the fabric of our democracy for good - this all aside from his vitriolic hatred of poc, his determination to start ww3, and the fact that he can't string a sentence together without telling outrageous and easily verifiable lies. his administration will start their crusade to exterminate trans people on day one, and they won't stop there.
Alt text continues on next image (which is blank)Alt text continued from previous screenshot:

do not talk to me about how joe biden is old, as if that could ever matter to me more than my life or the lives of my friends and family. my little sister is 14, she's trans, and i don't know what to tell her when we talk about politics, because one of these people wants her dead and the other one is old and some of you are still acting like those problems are equals.
i can't fucking stand this. i'm not hearing it this time, we are not repeating 2016. refusing to vote is not an act of protest, it is an act of complacency, and our most vulnerable will suffer for your negligence. vote like your life depends on it, because for some of us, it really fucking does.Tumblr user the-annual-clam added this comment to the post on June 28:
It's honestly frustrating hearing people talk about how
Biden isn't the candidate for the job as if we have another option to pick besides that isn't Trump. And the lack of emphasis on how abhorrent Trump's behavior was on the debate is disturbing. I would rather an old man that should retire over a man that wants people dead.
Used short-wooloo added this comment on June 28:
I will keep saying this: Biden's age is a non issue? Why? A little office called the Vice President
That's the thing with presidential elections, you're not just voting in one guy, you're also voting in the first person who will succeed them and the cabinet they picked to administer the government
and by the way, Biden's cabinet is one of the most experienced, capable, and progressive we've ever had
Trump's will be the complete opposite I assure you

Evergreen situation: regulators announce a weaker-than-needed rule in order to appease the right, but get sued anyway because the right will never accept climate regulations, and get sued by environmental groups on top of that for watering down the original proposal www.pbs.org/newshour/eco...
The rule adopted in early March was watered down from what the nation’s top financial regulator had proposed two years ago, after it faced lobbying and criticism from business and trade groups and Republican-led states that argued the SEC had overstepped its mandate. But that didn’t stave off lawsuits. After the final rule was approved, environmental groups including the Sierra Club also sued, saying the SEC’s weakened rule did not go far enough.
