Margaret Leahy @margaretleahy.bsky.social · 05/08/2025I agree. It's getting as bad as the other place 000
Margaret Leahy @margaretleahy.bsky.social · 05/08/2025There is so much to pick in the hedgerows and shores. Rowan berries for schnapps, apples, and blackberries for a cake and sugar kelp for crisps. It's a great time of the year for wild food 191
Margaret Leahy @margaretleahy.bsky.social · 04/08/2025As I'm picking from the hedges around my garden tis only the dog who gets to eat the lower berries, and boy does she love them 000
Margaret Leahy @margaretleahy.bsky.social · 04/08/2025This is my annual reminder to pick blackberries above the P Line What is the P Line I hear you ask? Well, think about the height of the average dog, his hind leg .... .. and pick above that 😉 4626

Margaret Leahy @margaretleahy.bsky.social · 26/06/2025Had a few ripe lemons in the glasshouse and lots of lovely lemon verbena, so I dug out Mary Berrys drizzle cake recipe. It never disappoints. Using organic lemons ensures the zest is just that rather than the chemical coating on conventional lemons 140
Margaret Leahy @margaretleahy.bsky.social · 23/06/2025It's the karst landscape of The Burren - a UNESCO world geopark 000
Margaret Leahy @margaretleahy.bsky.social · 20/06/2025Really enjoyed spending the day with these wonderful women on a food and culture tour of the Burren 250
Margaret Leahy @margaretleahy.bsky.social · 19/06/2025They are quite tart so they taste better when cooked. Didn't know they're not a thing over there 100
Margaret Leahy @margaretleahy.bsky.social · 19/06/2025It's gooseberry season. Picked one bush clean yesterday, and I found the last few elderflower heads to make compot. The flavour is amazing 150
Margaret Leahy @margaretleahy.bsky.social · 30/04/2025It's the eve of Mayday, so gather a few flowers and leave them on your doorstep. In Irish folklore, the fairies are active tonight, but they won't cross the sweet flowers, so your home will have good luck 1102
Margaret Leahy @margaretleahy.bsky.social · 24/04/2025The birdsong on this wee video is fabulous. It's a magical time of year, and I am so grateful to have beautiful old woods that I can enjoy walks with Willow in and gather wild food 0110
Margaret Leahy @margaretleahy.bsky.social · 23/04/2025Todays salad is entirely from the garden. Lettuce, spinach, dandelions, pea shoots, viola flowers, swede flowers and chives. #growyourownfood 061
Margaret Leahy @margaretleahy.bsky.social · 22/04/2025It's so warm and exotic along a Connemara boreen 010
Margaret Leahy @margaretleahy.bsky.social · 22/04/2025Blue skies, the smell of gorse fills the air and quiet boreens to walk Willow. Life is good 5400
Margaret Leahy @margaretleahy.bsky.social · 21/04/2025It's wonderful to see the variety of pollinators on the apple blossoms. Without pollinators we'd have no apples or other fruits. They may fly on to other flowers like dandelions. If these are sprayed with glyphosate the pollinator will die. No pollinators=no fruit for us 091
Margaret Leahy @margaretleahy.bsky.social · 20/04/2025The best Easter eggs. Beannachtaí na Cásca ort. Happy Easter #speirgorm 2181
Margaret Leahy @margaretleahy.bsky.social · 20/04/2025I could listen to Olivia O'Leary all day. Great voice, writer, and a fellow hat wearer. As always, there was a great musical choice to follow 000
Margaret Leahy @margaretleahy.bsky.social · 06/04/2025These four ladies are enjoying semi retirement with me now their time at the organic egg farm is over. They will no longer lay enough eggs to be commercially viable but are perfect for me. Willow is still sizing them up 1872
Margaret Leahy @margaretleahy.bsky.social · 05/04/2025I do! I run Fable tours - farm to table tours and tales in the west of Ireland www.fabletours.comfabletours.comHome | Fable Tours 110
Margaret Leahy @margaretleahy.bsky.social · 05/04/2025What a lovely day I had with this family. On our food tour, they went foraging, tasted amazing food, met a local grower, and watched cheese being made. The blue skies were a bonus #foodtours 1121
Margaret Leahy @margaretleahy.bsky.social · 28/03/2025I love my life! I was speaking to guests on a food tour yesterday about sheep farming when we had to stop to let these ewes pass. Timing is everything #ireland 3110
Margaret Leahy @margaretleahy.bsky.social · 27/03/2025You can see the outline of the lazy beds that would have grown the potatoes and vegetables for families. We were practising no dig over a hundred years ago #Ireland 080
Margaret Leahy @margaretleahy.bsky.social · 26/03/2025Potted mine on a few weeks ago and glad I found homes for all the extra seedlings. Hate wasting them! 010
Margaret Leahy @margaretleahy.bsky.social · 25/03/2025Me and my inner child had a great chat with Paddington in Westport #mayo 3130
Margaret Leahy @margaretleahy.bsky.social · 23/03/2025Stumbled into a lovely traditional pub in Connemara recently. The toasted sandwich in a bag took me back twenty years. Coupled with a pot of strong tea and an open fire, we had a grand afternoon #retro 0160
Margaret Leahy @margaretleahy.bsky.social · 20/03/2025Pollinators are enjoying dandelions as an early food source. The entire plant is edible, but I only pick the leaves for guests on my foraging walks as I don't want to take such a vital food source away from the pollinators #foraging 0200
Margaret Leahy @margaretleahy.bsky.social · 19/03/2025Another round of wild garlic pesto made and bottled. I'm wondering if the influx of invitations to visit friends has more to do with these jars than my sparkling personality 😄 2180
Margaret Leahy @margaretleahy.bsky.social · 18/03/2025I was cleaned out by a fox a few years ago and by mink before that, but in the last few years it's been ok 🤞 I did see a fox at the bottom of the garden a few mornings ago so kept them in for a few days 000
Margaret Leahy @margaretleahy.bsky.social · 18/03/2025I keep them in hession sacks in a cold dark shed 010
Margaret Leahy @margaretleahy.bsky.social · 18/03/2025The garden continues to feed us. ##growyourownfood 2120
Margaret Leahy @margaretleahy.bsky.social · 17/03/2025Full Irish breakfast for St Patricks Day Every element from the ingredients for the homemade brown bread to the Irish cheese in the wild garlic pesto is Irish. #loveirishfood 4140
Margaret Leahy @margaretleahy.bsky.social · 17/03/2025Growing up, St. Patrick's Day was all about my Ma. It was her birthday. I'll remember her today by doing two of her favourite activities - gardening and enjoying dessert! Lá Fhéile Phádraig sona daoibh go léir. 🇮🇪 Happy St Patrick's Day to all 2170
Margaret Leahy @margaretleahy.bsky.social · 16/03/2025You meet all sorts on a walk in Connemara #ireland 1300
Margaret Leahy @margaretleahy.bsky.social · 09/03/2025Thanks Heather I'll pass that on. He got engaged recently! 110
Margaret Leahy @margaretleahy.bsky.social · 02/03/2025My least favourite job in the garden is washing the glasshouse. It's a cold, wet, messy job. But at the end of the few hours it's really satisfying to see the clean glass. The significant increase in light will really benefit the plants. 260
Margaret Leahy @margaretleahy.bsky.social · 02/03/2025Love this Baínín Vest which is filled with felted noil from Galway sheep. Noil is the shirt fibre removed during the combing process of spinning. The vest was designed and made by Annika Joachim & Fabienne Rako funded by the EU 280
Margaret Leahy @margaretleahy.bsky.social · 01/03/2025Welcome, March. Looking forward to blue skies, a little warmth in the sun, longer evenings, spring flowers, bird song, and new growth everywhere 2160
Margaret Leahy @margaretleahy.bsky.social · 23/02/2025It was lovely June. Blue skies and a fresh spring beeze 000
Margaret Leahy @margaretleahy.bsky.social · 23/02/2025It was lovely to bring a group to Corcomroe Abbey yesterday. While my tours have a strong focus on food and farming, I enjoy sharing different aspects of our culture with guests. The 12th Century Abbey is well worth a visit if you are in the Burren 2142

Margaret Leahy @margaretleahy.bsky.social · 22/02/2025Sourdough bagels, boiled, baked, and ready for breakfast. I love Saturday mornings 2350
Margaret Leahy @margaretleahy.bsky.social · 21/02/2025Wild garlic shoots are appearing in our woodlands. My favourite patch is in a local wood that was ravaged in the recent storms. I went there yesterday to see if the patch was still accessible and despite having to navigate lots of fallen trees I was delighted to see these shoots 2331
