After Lewiston, Congress did nothing. Maine did the work itself: a 72-hour waiting period, and last November a red flag law that nearly 2 in 3 Mainers voted for. The Maine Gun Safety Coalition led that fight. Maine answered Lewiston. Washington still hasn't.

I see others have posted pictures of this old house bedecked in Vote Blue signs on the way to the common Ground Fair. For me it’s a kind of self portrait, fraying around the edges but still hoping for blue skies to break through the clouds. And also a great example of creative use of blue tarps!

The peeling white paint of the attached shed on an old Maine farmhouse is ornamented with political signs painted on blue tarps: “Don’t be a Dingus, VOTE 11/3/26”, “Earth needs us all to Vote Blue”, “Stop MAGA destruction”, and candidates’ names Miller, Jackson, and Dunlap.
