Proud to be second author on "Functional integration of an autologous engineered esophagus in a large-animal model", out now in Nature Biotechnology (www.nature.com/articles/s41...). In it, Paolo De Coppi and team created lab-grown oesophagi that integrated and grew inside pigs.

We have shown that lab-grown oesophagus successfully replaces a full segment and restores swallowing without immunosuppression. nature.com/articles/s4158… A major step forward for children with long-gap oesophageal atresia. @GOSHCharity @UCLPopHealthSci @ucl @NEWSFORTOFS

Lab-grown mini-stomachs could boost understanding of rare diseases. Our researchers have developed the first-ever lab-grown mini-stomach that contains the key components of the full-sized human organ. www.ucl.ac.uk/news/2026/ja... @paolodecoppi.bsky.social @greatormondst.bsky.social
