I warded against energy vamps. Someone I suspected might be trying to do that's stuff ended up getting nausea and diarrhea when we hung out. Now that's what I call a SHITTY WARD 😂 💩

Oh I understand, yeah. For a green waste container like that, I think the spirit would definitely be different. So definitely start with the relationship and see what they are okay with!

Great question! A couple things here 1. For disposing of baneful remnants or working with the spirits for a hex or curse, I'd find one further away 2. It's often illegal to use a companies dumpster for personal use, so be careful with that!

and of course leave an offering or payment like coins, alcohol, something especially nasty they can break down

they’re incredibly good at breaking things down. excess spell materials. baneful leftovers. energy you don’t want sitting around. you can also ask them to help things rot. a bad habit. a situation. a relationship. even someone’s health or finances if you’re working banefully.

witch tip: build a relationship with garbage spirits. If you have legal access to an industrial dumpster, that's great. If not, even a local trash bin. Here's why 👇🏽 👇🏽 👇🏽 #witchsky #witchcraft #animism #spirits #babywitch

there are general rules: a binding? you cut. a containment? you free. fire? use water etc etc write spells like you’re the one who might have to take them apart later. because someday… you might be!!!

if someone comes to you with something nasty stuck to them, you’ll already have notes on how to dismantle a similar working. huge time saver. very helpful. 10/10 recommend.

not because you plan to undo it—though that happens. but because knowing how you’d break it helps you understand what you actually built. AND...

The ingredients and tools have to match your intention and manner if doing the spell. If you make substitutions, they need to be methodical and you might have to change the "how" of the spell. Because intention won't outweigh the conflicting energy's of mismatched, thoughtless ingredients

To light the candle that way, you need the right tools, like a lighter. That being said, a pencil CAN be used to light a candle. You just have to use it differently. You have to break it, scrape it, use friction, and get creative.

"Intention is everything in witchcraft" If you hold a pencil to a candle wick with the intention of lighting it and just hope real hard.... It's not gonna light.

The terror of posting a response video to another witch's video Like crap... Didn't I cover all the things I had to say and be "nice enough" to not get cancelled 😂 How many times is it appropriate to say "this is my take" without getting annoying

Witch Tip: Simple talismans can be made by folding sheets of aluminum foil into a thin, metal tablet. You can then use a toothpick or pencil to engrave symbols or sigils onto the surface. #WitchSky #OccultSky

I was never a fan of the wheels either! I like to break the letters down into their components and the try to make the sigil from that. Bonus points if I can make alchemical/astrological ones (or even something from my own mind that reminds me of the intention)

These are from my perspective. Which you do depends on the nature of the object and how you work. I feed my lucky rice. A client bought some and they choose to charge it. This is okay, because it's a different relationship with the object. It helps with my notes on how to maintain the charm

🍽️ Feeding 🍽️ Feeding is more animistic in nature and works with the SPIRIT of the item. "I will give you 3 drops of rum on the first Monday every month for you to continue ____ for me." If it's adding material, the material isn't crucial to the function because the spirit is handling the "how."

🌻 Refreshing 🌻 When a ward or magical object has a MATERIAL component that is: 1. Crucial to the function 2. Exhaustive, meaning it needs to be replaced If a potted plant is my ward and it has a fly trap for extra protection, the trap gets filled with flies and needs to be replaced.

⚡ Recharging ⚡ When a magical objects needs more ENERGY you recharge it. Think of it like filling up gas in a car, it just needs more juice. This can be through prayer, energy work, the sun, the moon, etc

Wards and magical objects 🧵 ⚡ Recharging 🌻 Refreshing 🍽️ Feeding These are just how I use those terms. It's not universal and I'm sure someone disagrees. But it helps me, and here's how I use these terms 👇🏽👇🏽👇🏽 #witchsky #witchraft #charms #amulets #wards

I agree, I think the differentiation between mundane and magic isn't as cut and dry, if even there. That being said sometimes using scissors to cut a price tag off is just that! To me at least haha

Marco Bowen @marco-bowen.bsky.social · 14/06/2025
I have dedicated tools for a couple specific things, but in general I feel that. That would be amazing! I don't think that using tools mundanely "taints" the tools in anyway, you know? Especially if you wanted to consecrate them to bring magical aspects into "mundane" art

Love that! I could definitely see the ideology for both sides, and the traditions I've learned have different views on it

Marco Bowen @marco-bowen.bsky.social · 14/06/2025
Very true! There definitely isn't a "right" answer, but I love seeing the difference in practices and cultures. Personally, the only tools specific to magical are ones dedicated to specific spirits or used for a singular TYPE of working

❓ QUESTION ❓ I've heard and been taught two ways of thinking; magical tools like scissors, knives, etc that double as household tools should: 1. Be used only for magic 2. Be woven in with daily life What do you think & why? #witchsky #witchcraft #folkmagic

Nice to meet you! Yeah the terminology is super interesting when it comes to workings, witches, and witchcraft. My friend broke it down between "Divine Magic" and witchcraft. From his cultural perspective I can see that. Doesn't necessarily fit mine, but it's close enough and entirely valid

Exactly! And even if it's something to create a change or affect someone, at most my mentor would call it a "workin'"

And you know DAMN well that reason isn't to speak over those born into the tradition. Your invitation to the practice is between you, your mentor, & the spirits. If thats easily quaked by strangers on the internet, look in the mirror and figure out why. #witchsky #conjure #hoodoo #folkmagic

Side note: if you've been invited into a closed or restricted practice, look at who invited you. How did they learn? How do they move in the world? If that all checks out, then you just gotta have faith that your mentor and their spirits had good reason to teach you.

Soap box post (apparently) If you're an invited guest in a tradition, DO NOT argue with or speak over someone born into that tradition when they talk about who is and isn't allowed to practice. It is not, hasn't been, and will never be a conversation that you have authority in.

Thank you! That makes me happy for 2 reasons 1. It sounds cooler and definitely contributes to the mindset needed 2. Other prayers backwards would have the word "dog" a lot

WITCH CONFESSION In stories and spells, when they say "recite the lords prayer backwards" I never know if it's by word order or letter order. "I am so hungry." Would it be... "hungry so am I" Or "yrgnuh os ma I"

It's okay if you can't pull a card every day. It's okay if sometimes you feel a little less connected. You're still a witch on the days where clouds are just clouds and not omens from gods. There will always be herbs to ground up and candles to be lit; your path is your choice, not your chore

Oh amazing! In that case you might also like the books by @byronballard.bsky.social too. I read through a lot of folklore too and there is so much magic in there, it just needs a bit of distilling. Stories carry such a potent magic, in my opinion. I've pieced together spells from old poems too!

I feel like it comes to the territory, and not just for spirituality, you know? It is SO hard to unlearn and it kinda just feeds itself with the topical, sterile, and mystical-en ought language. I'm so happy GREAT books can be shared easier nowadays

"Do I not want to practice, or am I just afraid it won't work?" Asking myself this helped SO much with my practice. Doubt is a part of the path, and moving through it makes you more powerful. Confronting it can deepen your practice and establish your personal beliefs and magical framework.
