I was in Kings Canyon the past few days. Most of the pics I took were disappointing. Happens, sometimes. This one is OK for #PhotoMonday. Portrait layout, may need to expand to see the full image.
A redwood in partially silhouette against blue early morning sky in Kings Canyon. The tree rises from a dark forest clearing, its reddish-brown trunk visible at the base and its conical crown reaching high into the sky. The orange glow from the walls of the canyon hit by the morning sun can be partially seen in the background on the right.

Stopped at the coast near Pescadero on my way home from breakfast, Sunday. High overcast. Not too cold. #PhotoMonday
Triumph Tiger 900 motorcycle on its side stand in a dirt parking lot with the Pacific ocean in the background on an overcast day. The horizon mostly blends into the sky. Just off the shore is an out-of-focus rock outcropping populated by many birds.

A picture taken Saturday from near the intersection of CA 84 and 35 for #PhotoMonday. I was waiting for some friends to finish their brunch at Alice’s. Got tired of waiting and took off for a ride. Surprised there weren't more bikes. It was a nice morning.
A roadside parking area with three motorcycles parked on a dirt shoulder in the foreground: a dark-colored bike on the left, a red sportbike beside it, and an orange adventure-touring motorcycle with a top case on the right. Across a two-lane road, a strip of single-story commercial buildings sits beneath a backdrop of tall evergreen trees under a clear blue sky. A bright yellow sports car is parked prominently in front of the shops, alongside a blue sports car, a white delivery van, and several other vehicles. A few people are visible near the storefronts.

Low tide at Bodega Bay, circa 2009. I remember this boat apparently stuck in the mud being a somewhat constant part of the bay. Then one visit it wasn't there anymore. #PhotoMonday
A sailboat with its hull tilted heavily to one side and masts pointing diagonally skyward, sitting in calm, shallow water covered with patches of aquatic vegetation. The white hull is weathered and waterlogged, with rigging and ropes hanging loosely from the broken masts. A flock of white and gray birds (likely gulls or shorebirds) are gathered in the water around the wreckage and scattered across the midground. In the background, rolling hills covered in dry, brownish-green coastal vegetation rise under a muted, overcast sky. A narrow strip of developed shoreline with a few structures and utility poles separates the water from the hills.

I got a new motorcycle after my last sprung a leak that would cost more to repair than the bike was worth. The new bike is a ’26 Triumph Tiger 900 Alpine Edition. I’ll use a snapshot of it taken on the way home from the dealer as my #PhotoMonday contribution this week.
Side view of a Triumph Tiger 900 Alpine Edition motorcycle parked at a scenic overlook. The tank of the motorcycle is white. The body trim has blue accents. The engine is black. A motorcycle helmet and backpack are on a curb in the background.

Similar to an image I posted a few years ago. This one was taken while camping at the Texas Springs campground in Death Valley. I was talking with another rider when sunset exploded around us. We stopped talking and started snapping. #PhotoMonday
A dramatic sunset sky with streaks of pink, orange, and purple clouds stretching diagonally across a deepening blue canvas. Below, a dark silhouette of mountain ridges and tree tops frames the bottom edge of the image, creating a striking contrast with the luminous sky above.

San Mateo Caltrain station. Took this pic waiting for a train into the city to pick up my motorcycle after a rare dealer service. #PhotoMonday
A sunlit Caltrain station platform on a clear blue day, viewed from one platform looking down the tracks. The foreground platform has a yellow tactile warning strip along the edge. A single set of railroad tracks runs diagonally from the bottom-left toward the center, with overhead catenary wires and poles for electric trains. On the far side of the tracks is a tan-colored station building with a distinctive clock tower featuring a large clock face near the top and a small pyramidal roof. Black metal fencing separates the tracks from the opposite platform area, where cars are parked. Vintage-style black lampposts line both platforms. In the background, other buildings and trees are visible under the bright sky.

Redwood burl for #PhotoMonday
Close-up of a large, weathered redwood tree trunk showing deeply furrowed, fibrous bark with vertical ridges and grooves. A prominent, rounded burl protrudes from the trunk near the upper-left, its surface textured and crowned with a patch of green moss. Dappled sunlight filters in from the left, casting dappled shadows across the trunk's surface. In the background to the right, green foliage from surrounding forest trees is visible, indicating a dense woodland setting.

For #PhotoMonday a picture taken at Westport-Union Landing where CA 1 leaves the Pacific and heads inland toward Leggett at US 101. It was somewhat strange to see blue sky instead of the Pacific marine layer I usually see when visiting this area.
A coastal landscape along the Pacific coastline on a clear, sunny day. The image shows a wide sandy beach curving along the shore, with foamy white ocean waves rolling in from the left. Several dark rock formations dot the surf zone and near the water's edge. The beach is framed on the right by eroded coastal bluffs with reddish-brown sandy soil and green coastal vegetation. Behind the bluffs, a forested hillside covered in dense trees rises steeply toward the top right of the frame.

Yeah, I got rained on while camping. Again. But a very light rain that mostly came down while asleep Monday night. As can be seen in this #PhotoMonday image I didn't suffer much during the few afternoon showers.
A campsite in a redwood forest. A light green dome tent sits pitched under a white tarp stretched overhead for rain protection. The tent's door is open, revealing the interior mesh and a sleeping pad inside. To the left of the tent are two folding camp chairs—one black and one brown—along with a small black camping table holding a metal mug. The ground is covered in pine needles and forest debris. Tall redwood tree trunks rise in the background among dense green undergrowth.

Yellow and Green for this #PhotoMonday.
A sweeping landscape of rolling California hills under a wide, streaked sky. The foreground is dramatically split — a vibrant field of yellow wildflowers covers the left hillside, while lush green pasture extends across the right, separated by a faint fence line running into the distance. Behind these colorful slopes, muted olive-green hills rise in layers beneath a pale blue sky streaked with wispy cirrus clouds. Dark brush and dry grasses occupy the immediate bottom edge of the frame, adding texture and depth.

I went to breakfast at the Bell Tower Cafe yesterday. A picture of its bell tower for #PhotoMonday
A photograph taken on a clear sunny day showing the bell tower of a building. The image features a white wooden tower with black trim and dark shingled roofing. Atop the tower sits a small open belfry with a dark roof supported by four turned posts. A single reddish-brown bell hangs within the belfry, silhouetted against the shadowed interior. The background is a deep, cloudless blue sky, with green tree foliage visible on the right side and out-of-focus leaves in the blurred foreground on the left.

Another picture taken at Avila Beach in central Cal for #PhotoMonday. This one gets the #Monochrome treatment. Fitting, as it was a somewhat gray day with on and off rain. Harbor/pier view with a line kayaker heading toward the beach.
A black and white photograph depicting a beach scene. The shoreline is visible with gentle waves lapping at the sand. In the distance, there are hills and mountains rising above the water. A pier extends into the ocean, lined with small boats anchored nearby. The sky is overcast with clouds, adding a somber tone to the landscape. A lone figure in a kayak is paddling toward the beach.
