another dies irae afternoon; the point of no return; seeing these explosions of cats everywhere when the light is flickering, men and phones too if the light is uneven; lot of trouble sleeping; really like shokei shoujo; trouble with my writing, getting stuck on scenes -- so much dialogue, eek(!!)

minutes before i saw this post i saw a fancam edit of what i assumed was kamikaze girls for a few seconds before guns came out, but no it was actually 2010's gothic & lolita psycho

it wouldn:t surprise me if shokei shoujo started as a madoka isekai au fanfic; i really love the setting for it, though; the introduction of the fourth makes me crazy as does flare and her church; it:s just a fun setting to think about; anime has a great op too animethemes.moe/anime/shokei...

shokei shoujo makes me nostalgic for hen, qualia the purple too, i think of either and i miss hen in a strange way; shokei shoujo is a very fun LN, anime is pretty accurate so far; i scrubbed solidified diarrhea splatter today /and/ got to use simple green degreaser; tainted blue baby in a dress OC

really like dies irae, it:s fun, if you:re even slightly interested in it but ended up looking at the steam page or coverart and think it seems uninteresting: consider giving it a chance; i think the first part is free on steam? the worst part about the prologue is an unskippable monologue cutscene

120

doomsday @marabarl.bsky.social · 10/10/2026

switched over to executioner and her way of life -- i watched the anime for that and liked it, but it was also sort-of "not great" but has a very strong opening and premise, & the style of the world kept me interested; i love the executioners and the setting; also fits lesbian month; fun to revisit

150

doomsday @marabarl.bsky.social · 10/10/2026

remembered hearing from some author that they practiced writing by just copying all the writing of authors they liked, copied bunch of dies irae, hoping to get better at VN inner monologue tone; full metal panic audiobook: liked it! was fun; vampire hunter d: dropped it, was dull, maybe bad casting?

i went back and listened to all of your yuri jam coverage just recently & loved all of it, for what that:s worth -- had me playing connect the dots & really curious about most of the entries discussed whether positive or negative (one discussed very negatively made me super interested in reading it)

120

doomsday @marabarl.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

compared first episode of anime to the LN, really like how mao yells SHUT UP in the anime; think i like this series maybe? the parts about black technology being stored inside brains is really neat; cleaning today: went to put nozzle head on hose while water was on, ended up soaked, felt very dumb

120

doomsday @marabarl.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

dropped final book in Indian Lake trilogy at 50%, thought it really stunk; finished Murder on the Orient Express, was ok, entertaining enough; downloaded collection of LN audiobooks, was surprised to find that Full Metal Panic 1) is a light novel series 2) has audiobooks, so far it:s kinda cute

morning writing morning reading; i really like dies irae, i understand why everyone says it:s very good while not really going into specifics, because it:s kind of generic? but everything is so charming, it:s like edgy durarara; it even has a list of bad guys like the NMH assassin rankings

started/finished connect the dots, from toxic yuri jam #1, by u-b-u on itch, who also has a really great webpage i read this morning -- really incredible artist; liked this a lot, loved it even, both as a story and just super super super inspirational art direction; isekai, but rotting apart

wrote all the way through bay of blood -- worse passive watch than popcorn? worse background noise barely paying attention to movie, i mean; nice cinematography though, there:s a decapitation scene that was funny; couldn:t tell you what it was about; i like this strategy for writing; body:s worn out

110

doomsday @marabarl.bsky.social · 06/10/2026

todays slasher movie as background noise for writing: the bay of blood; indian lake trilogy made me realize how many slasher movies i:d actually seen, otherwise doing a good job of making me want to see even more; i /did/ finish all of popcorn 1991 yesterday (while writing, too; great job mara!)

140

doomsday @marabarl.bsky.social · 06/10/2026

another day, another dies irae -- kasumi is funny, she:s an insanely typical vn childhood friend loud girl type, but she:s so endearing to me, every time i open dies irae i feel "i love vns, i need to read more, more often"; on final book of indian lake trilogy: ended up really liking this series

140

doomsday @marabarl.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

i was thinking wow i must have been writing for awhile, how is the movie almost over, there:s only a minute left and basically nothing has happened and we:re in the middle of the scene and: mpv stops; yify was very dishonest; i like the idea behind it though, gets into the spirit; horrible adr

doomsday @marabarl.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

brnng brrnng, i:m a rotary phone today, here to ring all day just to give you the good news (landline installation is available in your area!); using slasher movies to time my writing worked great this morning, except popcorn 1991 was only 40 minutes long for some reason; it:s 90 minutes, actually

160

doomsday @marabarl.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

liked the abnormalmapping? moon archive? crying rules? toxic yuri jam podcast so much that i started listening to the first toxic yuri jam episodes; want to read some of the first toxic yuri vn jam entries, too -- skipped all of them first time around, was depressed at the time, i think

doomsday @marabarl.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

*step step step step* i am covered in dog hair; the weather is growing warmer; i finished my heart is a chainsaw, halfway thru second book; in the mood for slasher movies; was so afraid of death last night i couldn:t sleep a wink; i want to be taken care of, sometimes; often just a friend

130

doomsday @marabarl.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

to my friend: i want to read dies irae because i:m still excited from the prologue and am curious if i:d actually like chuunige but it:s october and maybe sayoooshi and/or gore screaming show would fit the mood better, do you know dies irae? got some writing done today; didn:t break a single thing

been listening to the moon archive toxic yuri vn jam 2 podcast while finishing up the monthly post these past few days, i really enjoyed the second episode -- i bounced off the first one initially thinking the conversations were too scant, going back: i like it -- made me read through several more

any dies irae buddy readers interested in starting this? i was only sort-of interested reading the prologue (and only did that just to see if the .exe would start w/o patching it), but the cutscene at the end of the prologue got me really excited for it

doomsday @marabarl.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

they just shot the entire city. it:s gone. the whole city was shot dead like a dog. major schreiber you dog.. playing this is making me feel like i need to just finish gore screaming show, this is overstimulating

i:m happy and joyous and in love with everyone and dearly missing my friend and so downloaded/opened up dies irae on a whim (the weather is so nice.. my feet feel like cold glass), and 1: the intro cutscene text scroll is so boring, then immediately: 2: woah wow this is so exciting everyone is dying

to an imp, asking: why no boogiepop; i did not forget boogiepop, but it is not fair to compare mortal works to completed heavenly projects; but i did forget qualia the purple; editor of my heart and of all my love against the imp: put that (qualia the purple) over parasites in love actually

110

doomsday @marabarl.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

and for fun, too: manga; i:d put fire punch over parasites in love, maybe, i really love chainsaw man but i haven:t really bothered with part 2 after yuki disappears; maybe sundome over parasites in love, sundome made me crazy when i read it while young; spirit circle vs lucifer; mari vs aku no hana

doomsday @marabarl.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

welcome, it still runs on modern os:s but a lot of the cool "tricks" barely work / not at all

010

doomsday @marabarl.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

actually i:d maybe switch neverwinter nights for tome4 -- very tough because tome4 was like a lifeline for a long time for me, paired up with irisu those two were all i:d play while living in this teeny tiny dirty little apartment sleepn on the floor; i /loved/ nwn main+custom campaigns though

130

doomsday @marabarl.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

one of the sad things about irisu syndrome is it didn:t age gracefully into newer operating systems; ex: if you play it on an era appropriate os, and you leave the window unfocused, irisu really really hates that -- doesn:t work whatsoever on newer os:s, loses a lot of magic; i love irisu, though

260

doomsday @marabarl.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

for fun, there:s a case for stuff like FF9 (made me crazy emotional as a kid and very embarrassed because i had to play it with a friend) and drakengard and various visual novels (hatoful boyfriend + irisu syndrome made me interested in VNs); violated heroine too, actually; but this i:m happy with

my dear friend who arf in hell, woof; i think you:re rotten; i miss you terribly; i hope every devil in hell bothers you; i want you here so i can tell you the weather is nice and i feel overcome with a love of everything; i finished hoffmann's "cremona violin" (cool!) + v1 of the spider story (Ok)

meow, for the court i:ll demonstrate xenotransfusion with the cat, as an efficacious method of treating a bad humor; it:s still so nice out, feel like i:m walking on pretty glass all day and the sky is really flat; wish i could share any of this with my friend, i miss him; meow, the auxiliary heart

sort-of want to start a big name long VN, like dies irae maybe; when the weather is like this it:s like the first time i:ve had a full breath from a year of breathing through wet silk; ballet led me to hoffmann:s nutcracker which led me to hoffmann:s writing, it:s all really interesting
