Support Research Tools for Organizers: littlesis.org/donate
A quote from Zaina Alsous, director of Build a Better Miami at WeCount, reads, “Programs like this are critical for organizers who want to better understand the interconnected forces that are causing and benefiting from the suffering of our communities and it helps underscore an important truth that all of us are capable of and have a role to play in informing strategy. Research and strategy are not tools to be wielded by special people abstracted from ongoing struggles but tools that work best in the service of and with working people in motion.” Consider making a donation: littlesis[dot]org[slash]donate.

What do Elon Musk, Joe Lonsdale and David Sacks all have in common? They all moved to Austin, Texas from California in recent years to avoid paying income taxes and find a safe haven to grow their already egregious wealth
Elon Musk, Net worth: $908.9 billion, CEO of Space X, CEO of Tesla, Executive Chairman of X.
A 2025 effort to map Musk’s footprint counted 500 properties across more than 6,000 acres owned by his various entities in Texas. Those totals will continue to grow exponentially as Musk is looking to expand the SpaceXAI data center buildout across the state.
Musk’s companies have received massive tax breaks in Texas, including subsidies worth $64 million for building a Gigafactory just outside of Austin and a 100% property tax abatement from Grimes County, Texas for SpaceX’s Terafab semiconductor chip manufacturing facility.
Joe Lonsdale, Net worth: $3.4 billion, Founder of 8VC, Co-Founder of Palantir.
Lonsdale is a venture capital investor and the founder of the Cicero Institute, a think tank that advocates for policies that criminalize homelessness, including camping bans, across the country and locally. Palantir’s software is a central tool used by ICE nationwide.
Texas residents made up 24.6% of all ICE arrests from January to October of 2025, making it the state with the most ICE arrests in that period. In just the first eight months of 2026, more than 53,000 Texans had their lives disrupted by ICE and the Palantir surveillance machine.
David Sacks, Net worth: $250 million - $2 billion, Trump’s AI and Crypto Czar, Co-founder of Craft Ventures. In December 2024, Trump named Sacks his "Crypto and AI Czar." Sacks co-wrote an “AI Action Plan” that called for “streamlined permitting for data centers.
As AI Czar, Sacks oversaw and shaped policies that widely benefited his tech billionaire friends and himself.
As of November 2025, The New York Times noted Sacks had “708 tech investments, including at least 449 stakes in companies with ties to artificial intelligence that could be aided directly or indirectly by his policies.”

In 2015, Bloomberg said, “people say, ‘Oh my God, you are arresting kids for marijuana. They’re all minorities,” ... “Yes, that’s true. Why? Because we put all the cops in the minority neighborhoods. Yes, that’s true. Why do you do it? Because that’s where all the crime is.”
