When keeping the minutes at local singings, i like to include the tune names... but i like to get the minutes done the same day, and it's late after the singing, and i'm tired. So i made a tool to automate it for me! minutes-tune-names.vercel.app #shapenotesinging

A web form, with one field labeled "Input" with minutes from a shape note singing that includes only page numbers, not the names of the tunes, and with a second field labeled "Output" that has the minutes including both the page numbers and names of the tunes.

Similar to the other example, but this one includes songs from two books: The Sacred Harp and An Eclectic Harmony

i'm very happy with the progress i made today toward a 3rd game in the collection: a Spanish-learning version of the card game Memory

A grid of cards with some face-up and some face-down. The face-up ones have fruits and the Spanish words that represent them.

the new rudiments explain this much more clearly than the old ones did

shows half of page 12 of the rudiments from the 2025 Sacred Harp tunebooks, with one sentence highlighted: “Though minor songs in The Sacred Harp are notated using the scale below, singers often traditionally raise the sixth note of the minor scale by a half step, creating a different interval pattern.”

i miss that library books no longer include a log of who’s checked them out, but I’m also glad that they don’t

first thing in the morning, just reached the lobby
got the bags packed, sipping on my coffee
i see you lost in thought
reaching for an omelette

i’ve seen you here and there all week
noticed you across the conference hall
i always look for you at the coffee cart
in omaha, or madison, or rome

and on each last morning
i always worry you won’t be ‘round the next time
i don't know you well enough to ask you but
i just want to know you’re okay
