Ever play a game and think "man, I sure am cool and fun at parties"?

Screenshot from "The Farm Was Replaced". There's a bunch of windows with coding instructions on the left, a 6x6 grid farm in the middle with a drone hovering over it. A piggy bank drone to the top left of that. On the right is a console with coded commands for the drone that have it see if it is at home, and then planting/harvesting depending on what variables the drone returns.

The thing I love about Next Fests is going from "I've not heard of this game" to "wow, I am now obsessed with this thing" I could not stop playing DiceyHacker1999 last night. It has some rough edges and looks better in motion, but the vibes are fantastic store.steampowered.com/app/3726190/...

Cyberpunk looking scene in pixel art from the game Dicey Hacker 1999. Cyborg looking person in a red screen at the top, blue-haired person slouched in front of a red screen computer.

Pixel art of a computer OS asking to Insert an ID Chip into a console.

Pixel art of a Palm-phone like interface that has three upgrades to choose from.

Pixel art interface of four enemies (1 with a full face mask, two military general-looking people, and one that looks like a skull circuit board. Underneath is the player UI (health, energy, money, dice for combat)

Managed to play 28 demos over Next Fest (and hoping that several more that are downloaded won't be taken down immediately today). Here are my top ones:

Denshattack, Gambonanza, The Eternal Life of Goldman, Vampire Crawlers, Titanium Court, Rune Dice, DiceyHacker1999 are all in the "Obsessed" category.

Cini Cross
The Dungeon Experience
How Many Dudes?
Wanderburg
Wild Blue Skies
Everything is Crab
Blades, Bows & Magic
Croak
Sledding Game
TownsFolk
are all in the "liked" category, which were still very enjoyable but didn't quite hit the hyperfixation bone quite like the obsessed ones.

Since the Switch 2 has a built in microphone, Pokemon could bring back this absolute (non) banger for the 30th anniversary celebrations

Steph: "bro, i'm not even that bad
Drizzy = Drake"
Cody: "unfortunately i do understand this"
Steph: "the 6ix/six/T.O./T-Dot = Toronto"
Nick: "drizzy drake?" YES emoji reactions

Favourite non-work games from Steam Next Fest were 'BALL x PIT' and 'My Card is Better Than Your Card'. My least favorite part is waiting for them to launch 🫠

Screenshot from My Card is Better than Your Card. It's full of bright colours and I'm a cartoony style. On the left is a character in an orange tee shirt with a dinosaur on it and wearing an orange baseball cap. On the right is a kid in a fireman's hat and a large water gun. On the screen are various UI elements like cards and a heat meter.

Screenshot from the game BALL x PIT. It shows a character in a horizontal trench shooting balls at monsters coming down from the top of the screen.
