It turns out it’s a real repeated physical damage to negatives. Like the emulsion was poked by something sharp over and over.

Film negative shows a weird little damage spot to emulsion.

Good thinking! I’m not sure exactly what scanner the lab uses, but I did pick up the negatives the other day. I haven’t had a chance to look closely at them yet.

Here’s another example. The dots stay about the same height from the bottom (left when vertical) of the frame, as if something poked straight through the roll.

Four people sit waiting for Old Faithful to erupt. A weird black dot hangs in the sky due to film damage of some kind.

Canon P is back in business! It feels smoother than ever. Test roll scans confirm the CLA did the trick for the higher shutter speeds. The lens, unfortunately wasn’t quite right after the cleaning, so it went back for re-work. Enter ЮПИТЕР-8 50mm f/2 ⚒️ #believeinfilm
