We continue to be pained and angered by the killing of medics from the Palestine Red Crescent Society, many of whom we worked with at the Red Cross Field Hospital and other hospitals in Gaza, along with other first responders from the Civil Defence. This incident must mark a turning point 👇🏽
Every medic killed in Gaza is a lifeline lost for civilians who cannot afford to lose more. We continue to be pained and angered by the killing of medics from the Palestine Red Crescent Society many of whom we worked with at the Red Cross Field Hospital and other hospitals in Gaza, along with other first responders from the Civil Defence. Every day brings a new reminder of their killing. We are deeply troubled by the horrific scenes depicting the circumstances of their deaths. Their killing is a stark reminder of how dangerous Gaza is for civilians, and for humanitarian workers who risk everything to save lives. This incident must mark a turning point. Humanitarian and medical personnel are protected under international humanitarian law. They must be respected in all circumstances, and they must be allowed to work in safety—unhindered and unharmed.”

In every country in the world, women tend to live longer than men
The chart titled "Women live longer than men in every country" shows a scatter plot of life expectancy for men and women in 2023, categorized by continent. Each dot represents a country, with its color indicating the continent: Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, Oceania, or South America. The x-axis displays life expectancy for men, while the y-axis shows life expectancy for women. A diagonal line indicates where life expectancy for both genders would be equal. All dots are above this line, meaning women have a higher life expectancy than men in every country. The trend shows increasing life expectancy for both genders, with women consistently living longer. Data source: UN World Population Prospects (2024).

🚨 What happens when vital health data disappears? The suspension of USAID funding for the DHS Program threatens global health monitoring, policymaking, and life-saving interventions. We must restore funding before this loss impacts millions. Share with your network! www.itg.be/en/health-st...

Like any researcher who understands how invaluable #USAID data—such as the Demographic Health Surveys—are for advancing knowledge in social and medical sciences, I feel nauseated and outraged by Musk and his associates' disgraceful statements and unlawful attempts to dismantle the agency. #EconSky
