Poking around in WordPress because I wanted to see how they handle something in the UI, and I just noticed the “Create AI Podcast” sidebar menu item: > Pick a date range or a few specific posts and we’ll generate a two-host conversation, complete with narration […] [Original post on manton.org]

If programming languages don’t matter much anymore, but reviewing code matters more than ever, can we resurrect RubyCocoa? Ruby is still one of the most elegant, readable languages. Wish I could use it everywhere.

Andrew Shell actually built a Markdown browser: > I quickly realized that much of this was already present with sites like mine that serve markdown for LLMs. I knew about `/llms.txt`, but didn’t realize there were so many people using HTTP content negotiation with `text/markdown`.

Reading Dave Winer’s notes on a hypothetical Markdown web browser. I don’t think we need to reinvent the web or HTML, but it would be neat if web browsers had built-in Markdown preview by default. Why not? Browsers render PDF and all sorts of files.

There’s a bit of accidental gamification going on with my releases.md gist. Feels good to work on something and then see it reflected in that file.

I like to hide tabs in GitHub projects that I don’t need. Finally figured out how to get rid of the Agents tab on the web. Go to your profile → Copilot settings → Visibility.

Maybe I should’ve clarified in my post today that I stopped posting to Twitter ages ago, won’t be posting there again no matter what happens. Micro.blog supports several platforms that I don’t personally use. LinkedIn, for example.

Surely the problems with Christa Pike’s failed execution rise to the level of cruel and unusual punishment set in the constitution. Can’t believe in 2026 we are still even debating this.

If you squint, there are parallels this week between PhotoCraft, an AI re-implementation of Photoshop, and OpenAI dropping a GitHub repo with hundreds of solutions to open math problems. There are some professions that will need to be continuously rethought.

I feel like I’m drowning in managing multiple app releases, so I’m trying something new: letting AI (my OpenAI dot for now) update a single releases.md document that has high-level notes about what has shipped recently and what’s being worked on. Making it public because it might be interesting.

JA Westenberg: > If you spend 45 minutes a day angry at strangers online, you’ll give them about 270 hours this year. That’s nearly seven full 40-hour work weeks, handed to people you’ll never meet, about events you can’t change. Sobering. 🙁

Perhaps as the value of individual apps decreases, with many more apps being released, the value of complex systems will go up. It’s still relatively hard to build and run a platform that combines many different services and databases.

App development is clearly accelerating. There are so many new apps being developed _and shipped_ that before wouldn’t have existed or would’ve stayed hobby projects. It’s cool! There are fewer barriers. But it’s also noisy and will require new ways of thinking […] [Original post on manton.org]

Google app reviews are so fast now, and Apple so consistently a full day, that my new routine is I submit to Apple at night before going to bed. Then the next day, if Apple approves it, I submit to Google. Feels like the best use of time, including while I’m asleep.

OpenAI still has UI cleanup to do, but one thing they got right is not having a model picker for Dots. It just uses their best model and you don’t need to think about token usage or level of thinking. Eventually more AI will be like that, with maybe only programming as an exception.

Experimenting with a new transcription feature in the notes API. I originally wanted this for making a dictation gadget that creates Micro.blog notes, but it’ll show up in other apps too. It uses the same OpenAI model as our podcast transcriptions.

Great thing about working with other people like Vincent is sometimes they go behind your back and do crazy things you wouldn’t have done like port Wavelength to the Mac. 🤪 I still need to figure out how best we can officially support and maintain this. Focus! But in the meantime it’s open source.

There’s a lot of chatter about moving away from cross-platform frameworks, back to separate native code for each platform. I’m not convinced that is always a good idea. Creating apps is relatively easy now, but maintenance is still hard. For our 13 apps, we have 8 code bases. Overwhelming already.
