One week away! Come see our booth at the Fall Fest on Main on 9/19 in Kutztown, PA! There will be lots of booths and food trucks, and I'll have my brand new kitty keychains and event-exclusive items like catnip toys and super-discounted wall mounts! And of course...Darla the dodo will be there too!!

I think I can finally post my finished (slightly larger than) life-size dodo bird sculpture, whom I have affectionally named Darla! Started in May and finished on July 31st, this big girl weighs between 15-20 pounds and has approximately 2,100 feathers, all individually punched into her latex body.

The dodo bird sculpture shown full body in grass with a tree in the background. It has black feathers on its head and grey and light brown feathers throughout the body. It has highlights of light blue on its face and nostrils.

A close up shot of the dodo's head and front half of body. It's angled 3/4.

The dodo bird on a patio with a torbie cat next to it, only half as tall.

🕯️🖤 Shop Update: 9/29! 🖤🕯️ @mantodeamarket.bsky.social · 16/06/2026

The dodo has been fiberglass molded and de-molded!! I was so worried it would end up horrible, but it came out great! I still have to clean up the edges and the insides, and fill in the spots where the initial layer didn't take.

The dodo covered in resin and fiberglass on both sides, laying on one side on a table.

The dodo mold opened, showing the inside of one of the halves.

We got to debut our new hanging sign yesterday (even though the wind kept knocking it around - it held up well!) and experiment with new setup ideas. We couldn’t put a bunch of displays out due to the wind and not having enough clamps, but all in all I'm proud of how we tackled the challenge!
