Having qualified as a “Super Experiencer” on their initial test, I have to say the term makes me cringe. I understand its value for academics defining categories, but I worry it increases stigma and makes some Experiencers feel inadequate or excluded. Imposter syndrome is not uncommon here.

A broadly accepted definition is “an experience which challenges our current scientific understanding, or shared, consensus reality.” Arguments mostly center on whether an event can be explained prosaically or not, but after-effects are often life changing (“Spiritually Transformative”).

To be fair, many Experiencers have had direct communication that something is going to happen in the next couple years. Those messages aren’t new, however, and the psychological component of anomalous experience is well recognized (if not well understood). I think the IC is exploiting this.

“I do know something about UFOs now: the phenomena operate in a space for which our every day space-time continuum is only a subset. I also think the phenomenon is physical, but it integrates psychic functioning. Contact is possible but irreversible.” — Jacques Vallée; Forbidden Science Vol. 3
