With reports linking Vladdy and the #Mets coming to light, here's a quick review of what's happening between the slugger and the #BlueJays. Hint, I agree with @martinonyc , this is in the "realm of fantasy baseball." BUT there's a chance, right? nj.com/mets/2025/01...

First base market continues to dry up. Pete Alonso back to the Mets seems like only a matter of time. @jonheyman.bsky.social reports Josh Bell sings $6 million deal with Nationals.

Former Met Carlos Baerga reported on the other place that the Mets have made an offer to Pete Alonso for 3 years, $90 million ($30 million AAV) with opt outs. Not sure how much leverage Alonso’s camp has with the 1B market drying up so fast. Still, something to keep an eye on for sure.

Will we hear from new Mets outfielder Juan Soto at the Winter Meetings in Dallas?

Frankie Montas says part of what went into his decision to join the Mets was a conversation with “one of my best friends” Sean Manaea.

Luis Severino was fun to cover. Always available and honest in his answers. I'm a little shocked he's going to the A's, not gonna lie.

I’m getting Arod vibes circa 2001 from this whole Juan Soto saga. Rodriguez’s persona took a hit after all was said and done that winter. Soto could risk the same.

I like the idea of a "golden at-bat" rule. #Mets fans: It's the ninth inning, you're down one and you could hand the bat to any hitter with this rule. Who would it be? Every major sport has a way of highlighting its best players in moments like these except for baseball. This rule would fix that.

Guys, who a free agent follows on social media is not an indicator of where they might sign. Juan Soto will sign somewhere soon. That’s all anybody knows. Now live your lives.
