man in the woods @maninthewoods.co.uk · 25/09/2026This week’s Friday Walk turned into a country pub crawl. There are worse ways to spend a day: youtube.com/shorts/yl-dP... 0100
man in the woods @maninthewoods.co.uk · 11/09/2026A pasty in my pocket and a pint at the end: let’s go for a Friday Walk: youtube.com/shorts/-s1yy... 2132
man in the woods @maninthewoods.co.uk · 28/08/2026I visited two really nice (and very different churches) on my Friday Walk. The first was a sweet little tin tabernacle near the River Severn. The second was a more usual church with a dedication to a local English saint and amazing views over the valley below. youtube.com/shorts/34wHg... 0101
man in the woods @maninthewoods.co.uk · 14/08/2026A visit to a castle and a beautiful decorative church! Let’s go for a Friday Walk: youtube.com/shorts/mV_dK... 060
man in the woods @maninthewoods.co.uk · 31/07/2026This is incredible! This bit of stone from Dorset has daggers and axes that were carved into it thousands of years ago. And the only other place in Britain you’ll find that is at Stonehenge! The past is such a mystery! 1272
man in the woods @maninthewoods.co.uk · 31/07/2026I rescued a bird! And navigated cows and maize, and played a ropy tune on my whistle in a beautiful old church! Quite a good walk! youtube.com/shorts/mi_85... 2161
man in the woods @maninthewoods.co.uk · 17/07/2026If you’ve seen a better pub garden than this, then I need your recommendations! Let’s go for a Friday Walk 🍻 youtube.com/shorts/htfbJ... 1133
man in the woods @maninthewoods.co.uk · 10/07/2026A few weeks ago Charlie and I were lucky enough to be taken on a walk around the Stonehenge landscape by archaeologist Julian Richards. He writes the official guidebook for English Heritage so he’s the right person to be shown around by! youtube.com/shorts/n3mQF... 1110
man in the woods @maninthewoods.co.uk · 04/07/2026I made this print after coming across a 1610 map of Wiltshire that had a great drawing of Stonehenge in one corner. It was really accurate in some ways but also very odd, like a drawing by somebody who had never been to Stonehenge, based on a drawing by somebody who had been in person. 2344
man in the woods @maninthewoods.co.uk · 03/07/2026It was a bit wet but there was plenty to see! Eggs for sale, 2 railway crossings, dog roses and oxeye daisies everywhere, medieval tombs and great hassocks in the church, a glimpse of a stately home, a trotting horse, and a pint of ale at with a friendly face at the end! youtube.com/shorts/t9LcC... 072
man in the woods @maninthewoods.co.uk · 19/06/2026Handmade signs, beautiful old cottages, a railway viaduct over a tranquil river, and a pint of cask ale for less than a fiver! Let’s go for a Friday Walk 🍻 youtube.com/shorts/iDoYC... 1111
man in the woods @maninthewoods.co.uk · 10/06/2026Wednesday: I love these little poppy seedheads. They’re so structural and decorative. They remind me of imperial crowns. 0191
man in the woods @maninthewoods.co.uk · 02/06/2026I made this new linocut print after a walk on a deliriously hot day recently. I realised how useful church towers can be to orient yourself in the landscape (and to guide you into a village (and the pub)). 0303
man in the woods @maninthewoods.co.uk · 23/05/2026This week I survived an encounter with a horse, two geese and their goslings, and a thrush lividly smashing a snail against the road. youtube.com/shorts/g8DIn... 1112
man in the woods @maninthewoods.co.uk · 15/05/2026I realised on this week’s Friday Walk that if you’d only ever seen the name of the plant “cowslips” written down, you might think they’re called “cow’s lips”. Which is quite a horrible thought. Tiny yellow lips 🌼🐄 youtube.com/shorts/1Q3f6... 091
man in the woods @maninthewoods.co.uk · 24/04/2026How do you feel about scarecrows? 👀 Let’s go for a Friday Walk! youtube.com/shorts/HgYsQ... 0102
man in the woods @maninthewoods.co.uk · 18/04/2026Beware the scarecrows of Marshfield (part 1)… Do not let this man look after your dog. If this woman sits near you, move away quickly and quietly. Whatever this man offers you, say no. 2101
man in the woods @maninthewoods.co.uk · 10/04/2026Lots and lots of blackthorn out there! Let’s go for a Friday Walk! youtube.com/shorts/77WMz... 0173
man in the woods @maninthewoods.co.uk · 05/04/2026I think what I’m trying to do with my work is to explore, document, and react to the landscape and folk culture of Britain as I encounter it on my Friday Walk. These are the first six of a new series of linocuts I’ve been making in recent months 0285

Reposted by man in the woodsBeth Lapachet 🚶♀️ ⛪️ 🇪🇸 @bethlapachet.bsky.social · 21/03/2026I just listened to the absolute unit podcast by @themerl.bsky.social with @maninthewoods.co.uk about posters on community notice boards. Probably don't get this in the midlands. 041
man in the woods @maninthewoods.co.uk · 13/03/2026Birdsong, rushing water, good signs, daffodils, a pasty, and a pint. Let’s go for a Friday Walk! youtube.com/shorts/29hkr... 1103
man in the woods @maninthewoods.co.uk · 05/03/2026This sounds a bit exciting for people who are into standing stones 🗿 071
man in the woods @maninthewoods.co.uk · 28/02/2026I made this linocut print as a tribute to the hundreds of mysterious big cat sightings reported every year in Britain. Have you seen this creature? 618038

man in the woods @maninthewoods.co.uk · 07/02/2026At this point I think we should just accept that hedgehogs are our national obsession and change England’s three lions to three furzy-pigs (that’s hedgehogs in some parts) 2628
man in the woods @maninthewoods.co.uk · 09/01/2026This sign is so low to the ground it *must* have been put up by the hedgehogs 15412
man in the woods @maninthewoods.co.uk · 24/12/2025Like mud? Then you might like this little bit I wrote for the Guardian 0122

man in the woods @maninthewoods.co.uk · 13/11/2025This is one of my favourite gates in a road of garages near me. I’m not a painter but if I were one then I’d like to be able to use colour and shape this beautifully. 1190
man in the woods @maninthewoods.co.uk · 12/11/2025I really enjoyed the halloween episode of the @themerl.bsky.social’s podcast, Absolute Units. man in the woods @maninthewoods.co.uk · 31/10/2025That was a spooky walk! I very rarely feel uncomfortable on a walk but being surrounded by fog makes everything feel… other. A bit like walking in the dark, you just don’t know what’s out there. youtube.com/shorts/Qa0S_... 1122
man in the woods @maninthewoods.co.uk · 24/10/2025Scenes of bitter rivalry from the traditional English sport of electing a new vicar 040

man in the woods @maninthewoods.co.uk · 13/10/2025What do you call this plant? A while ago I asked on here and on instagram what different names people have for this plant. A lot of people said Bindweed, Convolvulus, or Morning Glory. But I was surprised at how many names I was given that were similar to the one I know: Granny-pop-out-of-bed 1151
man in the woods @maninthewoods.co.uk · 08/10/2025A very aspirational display in the window of a local charity shop 38111
man in the woods @maninthewoods.co.uk · 07/10/2025Recipe book update: When I first started this book, I foolishly cut out a few pages where I’d made some mistakes. This, predictably, destabilised the binding for some of the other pages… 1130

man in the woods @maninthewoods.co.uk · 06/10/2025I love the beautiful mottled reds in these mosaïcs from Rockboune Roman Villa in Wiltshire. They make me think of fallen leaves in the golden autumn sunlight. 🍂🍁✨ #MosaicMonday 0182
