If you started your career in 1985 at 20 years old, you may be looking to retire soon. If you put away $1,000 in 1985 into the s&p500, it could have grown to over $65,000 today! We can’t know the future, but small savings now is better than waiting until later to start.

If you pay $1,000 on your 7% mortgage, you may be able to deduct the interest on your 20% taxes (effectively lowering your rate to 5.6%). If you put $1,000 in a Roth IRA making 7% return, you make 7% after taxes. Your 1.4% profit is a justification for not accelerating debt payoff. #wealth
