Doesn't "enemy combatant" require a war? Or at least an active combat zone under mitary control?

But he never actually suggested what the crime was. "Meeting Fanni Willis" is not a crime. And why was the date--the day before her affair was revealed--relevant? It's just pure salacious scandal mongering with no substance.

I was taught that God transcends human limitations, so it's more like "beyond sexual". Asking if God's male makes as much sense as asking if God's 6 ft tall: Our physical concepts don't apply to a timeless, omnipresent, omniscient being. But that was Catholic school, so it probably doesn't count.

Given his support for/pardon of war criminals, I'm pretty sure Trump would not claim he *stopped* the massacre.

Norway buys US-made air defence missiles for over $360 mln

I have 2 guesses: 1) Norway paid good money for it 2) Trump didn't know about it (him being too busy remaking DC into his image) Hm...there are several Norway purchases in the past year, but this one looks like it's direct from the US govt:

I feel like the govt needs an ethical "HR Dept" to - define every job and its min qualifications - set hiring/firing procedures - maintain a list of "disqualifying" actions like fraud, abuse of power, coups, etc. - handle complaints against govt workers - hear appeals from govt workers - etc.

That's the easy part. The hard part is rebuilding the regulatory agencies that have been gutted, recovering the experts that have fled the govt, etc. And somehow removing the unqualified, unethical hacks without starting a cycle of "purge all the agencies every election."

When I was a kid, one of the horror stories they told us was the USSR took kids at 6-8 years old, tested them, assigned them a career, and routed them into that training program. And that's why we had to fight communism. (That's also how their athletes stole our Olympic medals.)

This is kind of the point of the Gnostic Gospels: the serpent is actually the hero of the Eden story. The serpent is trying to bring humans knowledge while God is oppressing them for no real reason. (Think Prometheus vs. Zeus for the vibe.)

Absolutely. Any woman judged to be "insufficiently feminine" by whatever BS standard they come up with is a target. Too tall, too muscular, chin too square, voice too deep, boobs too small--whatever excuse they can use to police feminity. And women of color will probably get the worst of it.

Do these people not realize that Starfleet Academy is about "teenagers"? Of course there's personal drama! That's what teen-based shows *are for*. Each of the Trek shows post TNG is a completely different show with a different purpose, and comparing them them to TOS feels like missing the point.

I'm not plugged in to tattoo culture, so I was unaware of laws against nazi imagery in tattoos. I'm surprised that these laws weren't a major part of the discussion when it came out. I don't think I saw a single news story mention this. (The media failure in this case was worse than I thought.)

I wasn't surprised when the "I didn't know" story fell apart. Unfortunately, the news cycle had moved on by then, so it's possible people didn't catch the "here's some hateful online posts" and "his friends said he knew" follow ups.

I think "drunk person gets tattoo they don't understand" is a common enough occurrence that it doesn't qualify as a "childish lie". To me, his reaction when he "found out" was more imoportant. The only acceptable response is something like "What?!? Get this Nazi shit off me!" And he didn't do that.
