First of all, biggest of hugs. Second of all, in my experience that feedback is just them coping out. That way they don't actually have to give you any feedback, I find it hard to believe the other candidates are more experienced 100% of the time. Says more about the company than you.

Yuup, it sets quite fast, you need to work fast. On one hand, it kinda makes me want to get some more toys to get better finishes, but in the other I won't be baking cakes all the time, so I can't really justify the investment (and I have a tiny kitchen already full of stuff)

Yeah, it was burnt sugar (caramel) frosting, and it wasn't easy to work with it. But hey, people seemed to really like the cake m, so that's all that matters to me
