Setting up Comicstreet 2026 tomorrow!!!! We haven't even started and I'm already thinking about the fat nap I'm going to take when it's all over lol

I'm too old and broken to do the 24-hour challenge these days but maybe could handle the 8-hour variant? I keep thinking about organising something like that in Brisbane with a prize pool like ye olde Pulp Faction forum days. :)

Did a nice print run of a new comic recently :) It's nice to have a new book even if it's a silly one. It's actually a rehash of an old 24-hour comic! It's been an interesting exercise to redraw and condense it to a final version!

New shop postcard art just in time for #Smaugust :)

I appreciate the vote of confidence nevertheless!

The moq/cost is pretty high - which is understandable! But yeah, combined with needing space to store them and their being a bit bulky for shipping/travelling to cons as well, it's a bit of a commitment! I keep thinking about it though...

Mamath @mamath.net · 18/07/2026

I had a go at designing a mug for Emalco's mug design contest earlier in the year! Sad to say I didn't manage to get even an honourable mention... But anyway, you gotta try stuff! And it got me thinking about making mugs in the future. If only the weren't so heavy and bulky...

I'll be at Brisbane Illustration Fair this weekend! (both days!) I'll have my usual prints, pins, comics, stickers - including this silly chicken art. :)

I honestly think charging in anything other than AUD should be blanket banned at Aussie cons. Don't be going to another country and then acting surprised that it's a different country lol.

I have been working very hard on making Comicstreet's 10th Anniversary event this year, even as it seems the world burns down around our ears a little more each day lol

Mamath @mamath.net · 21/02/2026

Thank you! I waffled back and forth a bit on how saturated to make the glow and ended up dialling it back a bit for a hopefully softer feel :D

Mamath @mamath.net · 21/02/2026

I sketched lots of powerful energetic horses for the new year but the more I thought about it, the more I wished for something else for 2026. So here is the new freebie sticker art to start off this lunar year - a warm and gentle flame to light your way through a strange time.

Thank you! The sleepy babies is one of my fav parts too!

Mamath @mamath.net · 20/02/2026

Yesss we were told to focus on the original 151 for the show so I wanted to pick a line that doesn't get as much love! Rather than having the show be Oops All Charizards lol

Mamath @mamath.net · 20/02/2026

Dramatic Fire Horse I painted for the new year because I think everyone has to do at least One. It would be nice to see everyone else's fire horse art too! Feel free to spam them at me :)

I regretted not making space for a group of oddishes ;_; But I guess maybe in another painting, I can do that!

Yes, tyrunt skull! I wondered if it was recognisable enough!

Here's the painting I contributed to Nakoo's (@nakoo.bsky.social) Pokemon 30th Anniversary art show! I'm really happy with how it came out! I was inspired by kids encyclopaedia art and tried to put in lots of details so that every corner is interesting to look at. :) Let me know your fav bit!

Yeah I hate it both as a tabling artist AND an attendee looking to have a nice time and spend my money. It makes me feel like this is perhaps no longer a good place for me in any capacity.

010

Mamath @mamath.net · 09/11/2025

I reported stuff last year too and have done for other events! I recognise many of the same vendors from last time though so clearly nothing useful is happening.

000

Mamath @mamath.net · 09/11/2025

Supanova Brisbane just this weekend!

000

Mamath @mamath.net · 09/11/2025

There is a whooole booth here of awful soulless AI dog keychains ;_; Pet expos must be just terrible with it right now

020

Mamath @mamath.net · 09/11/2025

I'm sorry this happened i guess but also it rules lmao

110

Mamath @mamath.net · 09/11/2025

Next year I'm going to bring massive signs encouraging attendees to report AI to the convention email address lol

270

Mamath @mamath.net · 09/11/2025

There's sooo much AI garbage in the Supanova vendor booth section despite the anti-AI policy. I felt like I was walking around one of those shitty weekend markets but those at least don't have a $40 entry fee lmao

A unicorn painted for the new postcard in June <3 I keep meaning to draw a lot more unicorns for #Junicorn but I just...can't find the time. ;_; Maybe I can make it up later in the year.

In 2016 I think that was? Man, time flies! Maybe we need to do something cool for next year since it'll be ten years...

Been getting dug back in to organising Comicstreet for this year - including drawing this comic for the first flyer this year! On that note! Comicstreet 2025 takes place at the Queen Street Mall Stage on August 2nd this year! Artist table applications will open May 1st!

This one in particular I do keep thinking would make a nice greeting card! I think I'd need a few more designs too though

Never did post this so - this is the current shop postcard. :) A snouquet (snake bouquet). All shop orders atm get this card along with the current freebie sticker (a holo kirin). I've actually had this card art going for a couple months already though so it'll probably get replaced soon-ish.

Yessss I got my first boxfox from @mamath.net back in what... 2015?! When I was tabling next to them at ConFurgence. Look how much cat hair he's accumulated. Now almost 10 years later I've upgraded to a trio! I love them ❤️
