Our school (and state) just banned cellphones and those stupid pouches were not cheap. And then they cut an art teacher 😡. I am enjoying how it has united the student body in creativity and resourcefulness getting around the ban and figuring out how to break through the blocks on their Chromebook

It’s basically how good the outcomes are for their lower income students. Support systems in place and good graduation rates. (I am in the midst of 4th kid applying) The sheer number of lists is crazy. Every college can claim something

My 2018&19 grads applied to 3 schools, all public. My 2024 applied to 13. My 2027 has 17 on her list. The kids call it “spray and pray” or “spamming the app”. We are merit seeking and don’t have a great in state flagship like we did in ‘18 so I tolerate it. But admissions (and ranking) is screwed up

Very randomly the little Rhode Island airport started heavily advertising last month that they have the only non stop flights to Cabo Verde from the mainland US so we had a geography lesson here too! And then got super excited when we saw them in the bracket and knew where they were

I would agree with you except *all the parents* will sign their kids up regardless of if the kid wants to take it and none of those kids will get poor grades. I have had 4 kids go to “top” public schools in 4 states. Grade inflation and helicopter parents for the loss, not the win.

Well this was great! As the “enrollment cliff” approaches & I send my last kiddo off to college in 2027, I have been looking at colleges’ financial strength. This is some really good data to add to the mix. (I would also love the business major to be broken down more..accounting etc if it is known)

No reforming. Way past reforming. Completely get rid of ICE and anything resembling it in any part of our government. I don’t want to hear about reform from Democrats. R’s made congress a mess from a minority position…Dems need to grow a spine and make Thune and Johnson’s lives hell.

I called Senators Whitehouse and Reed. Got a nice lady at Whitehouse’s RI office and left a voicemail for Reed. I expect I will get form emails from both in a few weeks that don’t really address ABOLISH ICE 🙄 (usual response to calls and emails)

We have moved a lot. I have had 4 kids in “rich” public schools in 4 different states, south, Midwest, NE. I have never seen anything like this current NE highschool. Many many kids suddenly getting IEPs in 9th grade, pretty clearly for extra SAT time. Lots of Ivy legacy looking for another edge
