Malone Allen @maloneallen.com · 30/08/2026No idea but I can't imagine a world where Ossoff loses and Talarico wins. 200
Malone Allen @maloneallen.com · 28/08/2026I have the Cary briefcase and just ordered the Capstone backpack. Love their stuff. 020

Malone Allen @maloneallen.com · 21/08/2026There are ways to make frontier models good at this (certain plugins for Claude can make it genuinely useful at a fraction of the cost of Lexis, for example). But using the Google AI search summary for legal research is not among them. 010
Malone Allen @maloneallen.com · 12/08/2026This seems ripe for some UPL issues, but I admittedly have no idea how that applies in immigration proceedings. 010
Malone Allen @maloneallen.com · 07/08/2026Idk man, have you considered what if we ask one more time? Just to be sure? You never know.... (derogatory) 000
Malone Allen @maloneallen.com · 07/08/2026Yeah, but like, what if we ask again. Just to be sure. Just in case. 000
Malone Allen @maloneallen.com · 05/08/2026Not me, sitting here in one of five identical (except for color) tshirts that I wear on the daily. 230
Malone Allen @maloneallen.com · 29/07/2026Sure. And I wouldn't expect them to. But I think it's fair game to test (at least in part) whether they have learned the material they were taught that semester. 000
Malone Allen @maloneallen.com · 29/07/2026I think open book often doesn't just mean a physical book or outline in the dzam room anymore. It can also mean open access to the Internet and/or take-home exams. 110
Malone Allen @maloneallen.com · 27/07/2026Let's put it this way: if the goal of the exam is to test the student's ability to reason through the hypo, their access to the "book" matters less. You assess their reasoning of the rules based on their knowledge even if you've got a closed-book exam and their rule recall is less than ideal. 170
Malone Allen @maloneallen.com · 27/07/2026Yeah, I get it. I still think there's a lot of value in testing the students' actual knowledge of the underlying material. When you add AI into the equation, I think the argument for closed-book exams gets dramatically stronger. 2111
Malone Allen @maloneallen.com · 27/07/2026That sai, I could see an argument that something like the MPT could be a good model for law school exams. Testing the underlying subject matter while providing specific case law that the test taker has to evaluate on the fly. 000
Malone Allen @maloneallen.com · 27/07/2026Yes and no? My value as a litigator, in part, comes from my experience and knowledge of the underlying law and practice area. I absolutely have to do research every day, but knowing the underlying basics is incredibly important. Law school is teaching both how to think and knowing the basis. 380
Malone Allen @maloneallen.com · 27/07/2026Also when I responded I did not realize that the underlying post was written by a prof at my alma mater, but I wholeheartedly agree with it. 020
Malone Allen @maloneallen.com · 27/07/2026As a 2013 law school grad that had almost entirely closed book exams, I'm having a hard time seeing why this isn't just the norm in 2026. 3130
Malone Allen @maloneallen.com · 25/07/2026Correction: jail awaiting sentencing for second degree murder. 001
Malone Allen @maloneallen.com · 23/07/2026Yeah it's already been said but just move the private school funds into a mortgage for a home in a good public school district. Problem(?) solved. 010
Malone Allen @maloneallen.com · 19/06/2026Unfortunately, the current Court has made it pretty clear it has no interest in doing this of its own volition, so this seems like the only way to achieve it. This also ensures that public access to livestreams doesn't depend on the makeup of the Court. 010
Malone Allen @maloneallen.com · 09/06/2026Witt - Thomas - South was my progression, iirc. Honestly, great times all around. 110
Malone Allen @maloneallen.com · 09/06/2026Cannot say that I am surprised or disappointed 😂 Here's to hoping Talarico does in TX what Ossoff has been doing here in GA 020
Malone Allen @maloneallen.com · 20/05/2026It does but that doesn't explain the difference between the vote shares for the two challengers, who campaigned together heavily. 040
Malone Allen @maloneallen.com · 01/04/2026Seems like trying to thread that needle would be difficult if applied to venue determinations in civil cases against undocumented immigrants. Doubt Alito cares tho. 070
Malone Allen @maloneallen.com · 14/03/2026To be totally fair, that's his only relevant experience to draw upon. 010
Malone Allen @maloneallen.com · 13/03/2026Oh, things were running slow, so you decided to reboot? Cool, let me also run 12 BIOS updates while we're at it. -mine 021

Malone Allen @maloneallen.com · 26/01/2026Not saying they aren't censoring, but apparently there are more widespread issues with TikTok today, so it may be a bit early to say for sure. www.theverge.com/news/867625/...theverge.comTikTok USA is brokenThe power is out. 000

Malone Allen @maloneallen.com · 24/01/2026my 4 year old decided this morning was a great time for total meltdown mode for no obvious reason. color me jealous. 110
Malone Allen @maloneallen.com · 21/01/2026I use the Lexis version and treat it like I would a first year associate or law clerk. It's great at getting me started on researching issues I'm less familiar with, and then I can jump into Boolean searches once I've got a basic summary of the topic. 110
Malone Allen @maloneallen.com · 17/01/2026Gonna go out on a limb and say the lawyers are not the ones writing these posts. 020
