I’m pretty sure this is AI, mostly for the weird choices of words, inconsistent repetition and (perhaps most significantly) the two steps that are both labeled 6. I miss when people cared about the quality of their work.
Poster of self-checkout instructions in Prisma, though it doesn’t contain the store name or logo anywhere. The poster is extremely busy, filling every bit of white space with something. There is too much text to transcribe every word. There is excessive repetition (“adults only” appears beside a few items, a payment card symbol, a check mark in a circle), two steps are labeled 6 and most text appear in Finnish and English, except for a couple of items which appear only in Finnish (though they appear multiple times). The poster does not use the chain’s brand colors or fonts (but the colors are close).

This article came into the accessibility hashtag, because it suggests accessibility scanning tools will help ensure LLMs can crawl your web page. (That’s not a priority for me, but I don’t judge people that do want that). It says “the underlying question is the same one: Can a non-human reader […]

I had a pretty minor complaint to HUS (the hospital district) resolved in my favor on the third attempt. It is so frustrating that the system feels designed to wear you down so you give up before they actually investigate anything. Exercising your own rights should be made as easy as possible […]

They accepted my correction request: “Oikaisu 6.10. kello 9.14. Muutettu mielipidekirjoituksen aihesanan Autismikirjo tilalle Adhd” (Corrected 6.10 at 9.14. Changed opinion article’s topic from Autism spectrum to ADHD”)

Me: it’s important to give both Autism and ADHD the attention they deserve, without conflating the two. A literal national newspaper: (I’m not commenting on the content of the opinion piece, just the choice of category)
Screenshot of an opinion article with the headline “Lisääntyvä adhd-lääkkeiden käyttö lapsilla huolestuttaa” (the increasing use of ADHD medication in children is a concern), with the lede “Olisi tärkeää nostaa nykyistä näkyvämmin esiin myös lääkkeettömiä hoitomuotoja ja tukikeinoja kuten uni ja liikunta” (it’s also important to highlight non-pharmalogical treatments like sleep and exercise).
The category is “Autismikirjo” (the autism spectrum).

HUS (Helsinki region public sector specialist healthcare) are seeking an AI-powered interpretation service to “enable real-time speech translation between different languages in healthcare settings” - www.hankintailmoitukset.fi/fi/publi… What could possibly […]

As has been pointed out, the broken aria-label in the demo seems more likely a mistake, rather than the intended main problem. IMO, this is still the wrong solution, and avoiding the separate version of the information would be preferable. Even when it was done as an unintentional mistake, this […]

There looks like a damning admission from Google: googlechromelabs.github.io/webmcp-t… The problem: In the example, “Agent must scrape”, the aria-label doesn’t match the actual details (says May, calendar shows September). Much of the problem seems to be the […]

We simultaneously seem to have one news cycle around “home births are so dangerous that everyone should be forced to give birth in hospital” and a second one of “woops, we had a TB outbreak in the maternity unit”. You couldn’t make this stuff up.

The high point of the walk, however, was spotting this tiny toad (maybe 3cm long) hiding beside the path. #nature #toad
A tiny dark-green toad camouflaged in some greenery and browning leaves. It’s covered in lots of small warts.

Yesterday was two months since the heart surgery, and today I went into the forest. I only walked a bit over 2km, but it felt good to be getting back to normality a little.
Wide-angle photograph of a (stereotypically Finnish) lake, surrounded by densely-packed, tall green trees and a blue sky with a little cloud, taken from the top of a steep hill near the edge of the lake.

Lots more small birds from the neighborhood and this time it looks like each one gets their own individual hotel room. #birds
A photograph of two pieces of temporary metal fencing, like are used around building sites, in front of a brown wooden apartment building. Almost every square of the metal grid in the fence has a single, tiny, light brown bird sitting inside.

We called into the allotment and I harvested some tiny fruit - I don’t think I’ve ever held so many strawberries in my hand at once before. #gardening #allotment
My hand containing more than 25 tiny strawberries, mostly about 1cm long. In the background, our dog, a brown and white whippet/collie mix is just out of focus, partly obscured by the hand.

I just saw an ad for GitHub Copilot that said “rediscover the joy of coding”. I don’t get it - am I meant to rediscover the joy by not coding and letting the robot do it for me? This reminds me of the “people don’t actually like making music” quote from an AI bro a while back.

This link, believe it or not, is for you to send accessibility feedback. #accessibility #a11y
Screenshot of a “Peruuta maksu” (cancel payment) button, partially obstructing a link that says “Saavutettavuusseloste” (accessibility statement) and another that says “Saavutettavuuspalaute”. There’s almost no contrast between the overlaid links and the button color.
The company name (Verifone Finland Oy) and ID number (0943819-9) are visible in the screenshot, too.
