I've seen plenty of peaceful protesting and I've seen plenty of violent protesting. It's not dependent on political affiliation. There are reasons for both which you can ignore but they don't go away.

I've got family there but nothing would get me back there. Getting through the airport is an ordeal I don't need and the relentless undercurrent of violence while you're there isn't something I want to pay for the privilege of enduring.

I watched it last night, horrendous. What stunned me was the woman who said she'd been put on a Sex Offender's register because she involved a friend in the abuse. She was just a 14 yr old kid. Second thing was an offender's family members calling the victims liars. Hard to listen to.
