Kaïs Saïed a enfermé 34 avocats, opposants et journalistes en les accusant de "complot contre l’État". Ayachi Hammami était leur avocat... avant d'être emprisonné pour avoir fait son travail. L'UE ne peut plus coopérer avec la Tunisie sans exiger leur libération sans condition.

The Syrian revolution started off as a bottom-up, working class uprising from the peripheries organised through local coordination committees. They set up local councils throughout the liberated areas that coordinated to provide services in the absence of a state. 🧵

A few weeks ago, I was reading a book by Elizabeth Kassab on Egyptian and Syrian Enlightenment before the Revolutions. There was a footnote on Syrian prison literature. It was neverending. 5 pages long. This is how central prisons were to the Syrian regime.
