Tonight we went to see The Odyssey at the Science Museum, but the cooling system was broken so the show was called off 😢 So we went up the road to see how Albert was doing. 🫅 But he seemed lost in thought, so we went back to Sth Ken and consoled ourselves with gelato. 🍨

This says a lot about Starmer's world view. So long as it serves *him* well.
He added: “I am the British prime minister and my job is to be absolutely focused on what is in the British national interest. That has served me well in recent weeks and that is the principle that I will continue to adhere to as we go forward taking difficult decisions.”

Starmer describes Greens as 'the
extreme of the left' in response to
byelection defeat
In his pooled interview clip Keir Starmer
doubled down on the anti-Green party
language he was using during the byelection
campaign.
Referring to Reform UK and the Greens, he
said:
We were fighting the extremes of the right
and the extremes of the left.
He also said Labour was up against "Reform
on the right, with their politics of hatred and
division, the Greens on the left, with their
politics of getting out of Nato in the middle of
the conflict with Ukraine, of legalising all
drugs, including heroin and crack cocaine to
give to adults".
They were "the extremes in politics" , he said,
referring to both parties, claiming that they
could "identify the grievances" but that they
could not unite the county and solve
problems.

Identical pictures side by side of a happy Collie dog. The left hand side is titled 'Reality' the accompanying text is 'I barked at the neighbor's dog.'

The right hand side is titled 'LinkedIn'. The text reads, "Excited to share that I successfully led a perimeter security and real-time threat initiative. Humbled and grateful for the unwavering support of my family and local stakeholders. This experience reinforced the importance of vigilance, ownership, and continuous improvement. Looking forward to scaling this impact in future engagements." The hashtags are grateful, leadership, growth-mindset and security.

Here is the full blurb. open.spotify.com/episode/5TbK...
In this powerful episode recorded at the Dalkey Book Festival, we sit down with Israeli historian Avi Shlaim, whose memoir The Memoirs of an Arab Jew weaves together the personal and political. Born in Baghdad and expelled to Israel, Shlaim dismantles the dominant Zionist narrative and shares a forgotten story: that of the Arab Jews, rooted in the Middle East for millennia, fluent in Arabic, and often alienated in the state built in their name.
Shlaim explores British colonial meddling, the legacy of the Holocaust, and what he calls Israel's transformation from a refuge into a settler-colonial project. He also offers explosive insights into Mossad's alleged role in the exodus of Iraqi Jews. This is a conversation about historical amnesia, and why the trauma of the past can't justify injustice in the present.

I did write in the end saying that my despair had now turned to disgust. I asked her to think about the most spoken second language in the constituency where I live. Starmer is talking about my neighbours.
Most common main language spoken at home in London Boroughs
Not including English and other European languages* (% of London Borough population) 2011 •Turkish is not classed as European for this analysis.

🌱 A few winters ago, we bought some Willow twigs at Columbia Road Market for indoor decoration. Eventually they were put outside in a container in a corner of the garden which promptly filled with water. One twig sprouted a side shoot. I trimmed it and put it in a pot on the deck.

Zelensky will be too busy and would not be impressed. After the war maybe. Trump, on the other hand, will still want to go ahead and this will give us leverage which, despite our outrage, we still need in the interests of Ukraine as much as ourselves.
