I had to put down my cat Roger yesterday. He was only 7 but his kidneys just started failing all of a sudden, and after four days on fluids they did not improve. So I made the hardest decision I've ever had to make and I let him go. Goodbye, Roger. You were the sweetest and best cat I've ever known.

This is what I like to call "Roger's Graduation photo." Half sitting, half laying, his head is turned a full 90 degrees to the left to look at me, though in effect he is looking a little past the camera. It looks a lot like the kinds of poses high school seniors get put in for their yearbook photos.

One of my absolute favorite pictures of Roger. I am wrapped up in a University of Louisville blanket and he is laying sprawled out on my chest. He is on his side with his back to the back of the couch, and his head is against my arm. He is looking at me with a look that I can only describe as unconditional love.

Horses is full of these little justifications. I’m just lying to keep safe. I’m just playing along until the moment where I can do something else. I don’t believe in this stuff but I don’t wanna end up like one of *those* people. And in the discussion around the game, we see small versions of these arguments and justifications.

And yet those seeds will be planted in receptive soil anyway. The best comfort I can take from the current "children as parental property" push is that it is simply incorrect. Kids will grow beyond their parents' mindsets, even if it takes them until they're 31. Ask how this lapsed catholic knows.

I'm about 5 hours into this train wreck and while I agree with this reviewer, where did the idea that we "don't play Devil May Cry for the story" come from? 3 has some of the coolest cutscenes around and is legitimately moving. Maybe the plots are generic but I love my stupid half-demon sons.

One of my favorite one-two punches of albums from my high school years. Enemies of Reality is more consistent (though you have to listen to the Andy Sneap produced rerelease) but the highs on This Godless Endeavor are higher. I don't know that I would like metal as much as I do without these albums.
