This month on Making Heyer, we read Helen, one of Heyer's contemporary novels, one of the novels she later withdrew from publication, and perhaps her most revealing book to date. Also, the first (sub)textually queer characters. #georgetteheyer #makingheyer #romancelandia

It's Making Heyer day! We're back in our longest episode yet, a discussion of These Old Shades. Did we like it? You'll have to listen to find out. (also yes, these social media clips do involve Eve finding the most ridiculous covers possible, thank you for asking) sites.libsyn.com/612150/these...

You come to Making Heyer for exactly such erudite discussion and insight into the hosts as this. (Also I (eve, obviously) really don't think I'm alone in my affection for Richard iii. I know you're out there!)

Episode 4, powder and patch is out! A relatively brief episode from us this month, it's "only" an hour and a half long. (This will not prove to be a trend, the next few are BEASTS.) The novel isn't as substantial as the last few, but we have Things to say anyway directory.libsyn.com/episode/inde...

Episode 3 is here! This month, we're reading Instead of the Thorn, a weird, unpleasant book that caused us various trials and tribulations but led to some really interesting conversation. One of the novels Heyer later removed from publication, and we can see why. #romancelandia

Instead of the Thorn will be out in eleven days, but in the meantime if you haven't given Roxhythe a try, maybe Devan being extremely funny and class conscious will persuade you? #romancelandia #georgetteheyer #thegreatroxhythe

Have you listened to our Great Roxhythe chat yet? If not perhaps this clip of Devan being very funny will persuade you to give it a chance.

A teaser for episode 3

A screenshot showing the final (V1) file of the episode, clocking in at two and a half hours

A screenshot of a quote from the book. "So Elizabeth, who had never known a school-girl's passion for one of her own sex, plunged into her first love affair, and hugged it to her, and sighed, despair Ed, rejoiced and fluttered."

Hi #Romancelandia! Making Heyer is a new podcast about taking a critical eye to Georgette Heyer by reading her works in publication order. And if you're a little wary of that as a project, I'd love to make a pitch for why we're worth a listen!

The cover art for Making Heyer, which depicts hosts Devan and Eve as 18th century peasants sitting in front of a haystack, their tools resting at their sides. Devan is reading a book and Eve has a big mug of tea.
