What would it look like if space belonged to everyone? We’ve come to identify (at least) five key dimensions of spatial justice, with our local communities and inspired by many others beyond Oxfordshire who are demonstrating what it means.
Two people kneel in a community garden planting seedlings in front of a storefront, illustrating shared use of public space; overlaid headline asks “What would it look like if space belonged to everyone?” and a caption reads “Here’s what we might see in a spatially just world.”Community members waving and holding large colorful letters under a banner reading "Dimension 1: Ownership," alongside a caption asserting that land and buildings belong to the people who bring them to life and communities can shape their spaces.People sharing food around a table with a header reading "Dimension 2: Access" and a caption asserting barrier-free access to shelter—no cost, exclusion, or eviction—and the right to roam and secure tenure through new contracts.Community members leaning over a city map collaborating on plans; banner reads "Dimension 3: Design & Development" and caption says design should be done by and with communities, who lead and are central to place design.
