Lanterns Season One is done and just realised that John Stewart is 100% the type of guy to ask to borrow your USB-C cable on a train because his phone battery is on 7%. (But seriously, good show elevated by great casting. Someone needs to cast Kelly Macdonald in the next season of Fargo)

Unsolicited writing advice, no. 1444: Don't waste time trying to identify trends. Publishers have whole departments to do this, and are still routinely surprised by "surprise bestsellers." Instead, write what you love, and hope other people will love it, too...

I quite like Scrivener. It's great for splitting a text up. But in the end I always have to put everything together on Word.

I've heard good things (and I'm sick of paying for Microsoft Office like it's Netflix) but publishing operates in .doc and .docx. I've heard there are sometimes formatting problems when switching between Word and Libre. How have you found it?

Do other writers actually export from Scrivener to Word? I prefer to laboriously copy and paste each chapter and read as I go like a true artisanal craftsman, a literary sculptor of yore.

I've noticed a lot of media focusing on the Unabomber recenrly. A TV series, a few docs and now a movie. All of which view Kaczynski's anti-technology philosophy (if not his actual crimes) somewhat sympathetically. I can't help but view this as a commentary on the rise of AI.
