For the tech stack, I used wxt.dev, @svelte.dev, and tailwind! Extension dev is definitely a bit more painful than normal webdev - I have to basically do RPC from a "main world" script (what runs in a Figma tab) to an "isolated world" content script to a background script to bypass CORS :/

i've been trying to reverse engineer Google Find My Device, and it's been, uh, painful :/ since they use both gRPC and Protobuf, seem to be base64-ing protobuf blobs (??) within the json grpc, and I don't have a schema..

That would definitely be a massive step in the right direction, but you'd still run into e.g. the borrow checker (which tbf isn't a *huge* issue, but it still makes the learning curve way steeper and can be a PITA)
