A polar bumble bee (Bombus polaris) sits atop an arctic willow (Salix arctica) catkin overlooking a field of glaucous bluegrass (Poa glauca), spike trisetum (Trisetum spicatum), alpine sweetgrass (Anthoxanthum monticola) that stretches towards the waters of the Canadian Arctic Archipelago in Nunavut, Canada. Ground frost (Physconia muscigena) and finger wart (Lepra dactylina) lichens grow amidst the rocky soil.

A White's Seahorse (Hippocampus whitei) sits nestled amongst the fronds of Dictyota algae on the corner of a Seahorse Hotel. In the distance, a flourishing Posidonia australis meadow sits untouched by an environmentally friendly mooring, its chain held above the delicate seagrass by floats.

My piece for the Caffeine Rush zine hosted by @bycmykae.bsky.social! I had so much fun working on this piece and getting back into traditional painting - with coffee no less - was a nice challenge.

A spread of paintings done in coffee, styled to resemble photographs, lay strewn across a dark wood table top.

On the top left is a painting of a shade grown coffee farm with rows of coffee plants growing beneath taller trees, the farm giving way to more forested growth on right.

Below that and slightly overlapping the previous image is a close up picture of the branches of a coffee plant laden with coffee cherries. The dark background is reminiscent of a cup of coffee with frothy bubbles on the surface.

In the upper right are pictures of a Horned Guan perched on a branch with an open sack of coffee and a Margay on a tree limb, its tail curled around its paws as it looks at the viewer.

In the middle, a card titled "Shade Grown Coffee" reads: Providing habitat support to migrating birds and local wildlife, these farms have a comparable biodiversity to nearby natural forests. They act as buffer zones for animals such as the Horned Guan and Margay, which live in undisturbed primary forests threatened by development. An ecologically friendly source of delicious coffee!

It lies on a strip of paper with a graph visually depicting the various levels of shade grown coffee from sun grown to rustic and the gradient of height, density, and diversity of plant life. To the right is a drawing of a Northern Tamandua climbing down a tree trunk.

I’ve been really into PokeRogue for the past week or so and finally managed to beat classic mode for the first time! I got lucky and managed to keep Eternatus frozen the whole time lmao
