For today's #BirdOfTheDay theme #Seabirds, I just encountered this juvenile gull (possibly Herring?) on my way to the library. I stopped to take some photos and it stopped to check whether my fingers seemed edible :)

A juvenile gull standing on top of a trash can. It is facing left. It has dark colored beak and eyes but pinkish legs. It has a broen pattern on its wings.

For today's #BirdOfTheDay theme #Pairs, I have this pigeon couple :)

Two pigeons on the roof of an old building. The left one is very close to the corner and its facing towards the other one on the right. The right one has its neck feathers fluffed up, which looks bright purple. It seems as if it is trying to impress the other one.

"I told you this was a good spot for human-watching" from St Andrews, #Scotland #BirdOfTheDay #CaptionThatBird

Two gulls on top of a rusty metal sign. They are viewed from the back. The left one seems to be looking towards its friend on the right and the right one is looking towards the building on the background. The background features a cloudy sky, multiple two or three story buildings side by side and in front of it there is a car park. (Cat plates are censored.)

First time seeing them molting 🤣 It looks like they got an unfortunate haircut. #birds

Hooded crow standing on grass viewed from its right side. It is facing towards the camera. Its missing some feathers on its head.

For today's #BirdOfTheDay, I will go with the alt theme #Pigeons&Doves So here is a laughing dove from the streets of #Istanbul And a wood pigeon from a park in #Scotland

A laughing dove viewed from above and behind. It is facing right. The characteristic coloring on its neck is partially visible. It is standing on a cobblestone ground.

A wood pigeon viewed from above, from its left side. The green and white patch on its neck is clearly visible. It is sitting on grass. It has a very empty look in its eyes.

Some silly drawings of gulls. (And a bonus egret.) #birds #art #drawing #birdart

Three different drawings. One somewhat shaded, showing a gull viewed from above, it's holding a sandwich with its beak.
The other two are doodles, one showing a herring gull walking left, the other showing a juveline yellow legged gull facing right.

Doodles of two Mediterranean gulls. Doodle one shows it while its head is mostly white with a dark patch around the eyes. Second drawing shows the dark head with white lines right above and below the eye. The gulls are both facing right. There is an arrow from the first one to the second. I don't know why they change their head color like this.

Black and white doodle of a great egret. Its neck is ridiculously long and fully extended. It is facing right.

I'm trying to learn how to identify different species. (Not going well.) So here is a drawing of a common gull which is -in fact- not so common! #birds #art #drawing #birdart

Digital drawing of an adult common gull. It is white with gray wings that have black tips. It has a yellow bill and legs with dark eyes. It is facing left. The background is green and the ground is gray.

For #BirdOfTheDay theme #BirdsInAbstract today I have a photo of a gull from a funny angle watching the Bosphorus as anyone else in #Istanbul And I have another photo from a hill in #Scotland where I like how the bird is completely black contrasting the live colors in the background.

A black bird (likely a crow) flying in open sky. Its shape including both wings can be clearly seen, but only as an outline. It is flying towards left. The background has green to yellow hills. On the left, parts of the city can be seen from a distance. The sky has no clouds. The upper parts are slightly darker blue and it gets lighter towards the horizon.

A photo of a seagull from the back where its eyes and beak can not be seen. In front of the gull there are two metal bars limiting the view. Behind the gull is dark see water. On the right side of the image Bosphorus bridge is visible. On the other side of the strait the city can be seen. Including the landmark "Mecidiye mosque."

A black duck-shaped bird standing on rocks next to a pond. The bird has a red beak with a yellow tip. Its legs are yellow and its feets look long compared to their body.

Two black duck-like birds are floating on a pond. They are viewed from above. Their beaks are red with a yellow tip. They have a white line defining their wings. There are fern like leaves at the bottom of the photo and next to the birds.

For today's #BirdOfTheDay theme #Iridescence I have a photo of some starlings enjoying the summer in #Istanbul And for the alt #Black&White I have what I think is an oystercatcher from an abandoned castle in #Scotland

Three starlings standing on grass, on the background there is a fence.

A mostly black bird with white feathers on its wings and tail, taking off from the top of remains of a wall that is made out of rocks. The background is blue sky with some clouds. The bird is viewed from a long distance.
I had another photo of the same bird that featured a long orange beak and that's what's lead me to think that it was an oystercatcher.

Here is a drawing of a eastern bluebird :) 🐦 #art #drawing #birds

Drawing of a eastern bluebird facing right. It is a sideview slightly tilted in a way as if the viewer is looking up to the bird from somewhere lower. The bird has blue wings and head, dark gray beak and legs with a blue tint. Its belly is white but breast and throat is light chestnut. The drawing has a thick olive colored outline. The background is white.

#BirdOfTheDay for today is #Herons&Egrets The one in the first photo is presumably waiting for a ferry in #Turkey Second one is from #Scotland and fits the alt theme #borbs

Photo of a gray heron standing on the edge of the ground next to the sea, taken at night. In the backgroun city lights are visible. The heron is facing left as if he is staying at the sea.

Photo of a gray heron curled up into a ball standing on rocks right next to what seems to be a lake or a river. There are braches with green leaves surrounding it. The halos on the water suggests that it's raining.
