Denshattack! (2026) near-perfect game top OST of the year, levels flow in such a satisfying way and the story surprisingly expands in scope a lot greater than I imagined. having the split between standard "get from A to B" courses, trick parks and races along with wild boss fights is great.

Monster Hunter Rise | Sunbreak (2022) finally actually hit the final boss in this and yeah this shit is some of the best monhun ever really well-rounded monster cast, wirebug skills are cool, switch skills are a good way to build out weapon variety, only downside is hunting horn. goss harag is COOL

Sinners (2025) FROM DUSK TIL DAWN IF IT WAS GOOD no but seriously I love how serious in tone this is for the majority of it and the way they keep the mundane scenes more tense than the action bits. the search for connection and community is such a good framing for this

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple (2026) this one fuckin rocks, picks up like just a bit after the prior film and kelson is still one of the best characters in this series. all the jimmy scenes are crazy uncomfortable and I really appreciate how warm the tone ends up being overall despite the horrors

Lil Gator Game: In The Dark (2026) surprisingly expansive DLC that feels like it effectively doubles the playtime, functions as a cute postgame. the new abilities tied to weapons and the "boss battles" are really cute ideas, love the new freaks hanging out down here

catchup time again Big Walk (2026) really lovely coop game, gives you the exact vibe of accidentally pushing your friend off a nature trail and having to fall after them to make sure they're not lost. adored the puzzles in this and looking forward to the extra stuff after the end.

Cook Serve Forever (2025) honestly I'm glad I waited on playing this but the game is a lot more satisfying after the update that changed the recipes to set steps. music's great, story actually wraps up in a surprising way and the voice acting's really well done

Final Fantasy 16 (2023) it's averaged out to Just Fine imo. there's some cool stuff in here and neat fights but the combat is so cooldown-rotationy to its detriment; most fights are pretty samey. anything that's not a boss fight or neat cutscene is where the game gives up on budget, story included

Vholume (2026) despite not being much of a leaderboard chaser I can see myself plugging away at some of the silver times maybe, game just feels really good to move around in and the stage flow feels immaculate. seems like a bunch of other unlocks and stuff tucked away too so it's pretty hefty.

Yuri Sword Saga (2024) realized I hadn't actually finished this one so I went back and cleared it as well, I like the idea of the base stages being a little more shmup structured with waves and then the boss at the end being able to be played as a separate difficulty with harder patterns. cute!

Abyss Kitchen (2026) this was a really surprising one, pico games has really charming design choices. adorable presentation, solid structure and still manages to fit surprises in the gameplay and bosses. big fan of the standard stage format and how many plates you gotta spin

LURRUNA - The Island of Towering Automatons (2026) man I really love the feeling of this game. your mode of attack being bombs with arcs and different throw angles means the enemy and level design is built around that really well, fun 1CC and EX mode is a bit evil, scraped by with 5 continues.

Jenny The Witch (2026) a neat little action platformer that manages to give a sense of armored core heft to the combat, has a decent mix of combat arenas and little platforming challenges in a linear format. environment design is a bit samey but there's a good amount of enemy variety

Find Matt's Cats (2026) I am a sucker for hidden object games when they're done well and not only is the artstyle fantastic, the scope is pretty insane. multiple difficulties along with stickers/cards and gems to find and buy different mascots or pointers/filters with. SUPER cute

The Mermaid Mask (2026) I ADORED this one, really good mystery with so many great performances from the cast and tied with a bow of beautiful animation/art direction/OST. saying as little as I can about the actual game but aside from that Grimoire and Sally are such good bickering partners

Time Tripper (2021) heard EoS is a crazy good doom wad and picked this up, eight fairly strong levels and the change of (nearly) everything to projectiles definitely gives it a neat shmup flavor. doesn't play around with it too much, monsters are mostly vanilla with a few additions but it's good!

Asura the Striker (2023) lovely little space harrier-ish game, especially impressive from a 2-dev team. nice music, actually on the more-readable side for the genre of rail shooter it's in, the EX gear seems like an easy mode since I 1cc'd without much effort so seems like no-mech's the way to go

Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight this is basically baby's first arkham city and the plot of EVERY BATMAN FILM mashed together so it's actually the best batman game you could ever play. writing's very charming and a lot of neat callbacks that go over my head and other silly references

Prince of Persia (2008) id this on a whim since I wanted something kinda just okay to chew through. like a step below the satisfaction of figuring out traversal in SotC, broken up by some of the silliest combat imaginable. I like the general pacing of the platforming even if it's hypertutorialized

Dino Quake (2025) lovely little arcade platformer where instead of bubble bobble's mechanic of capturing enemies you stun them and kick their ass down ledges to knock into others. short, sweet, lots of alternate characters that have silly stat differences and unique ending portraits. worth a shot!
