I have decided I am going to pray to MacKenzie Scott until she buys the Seahawks. Turn all of Seattle into a Ted Lasso episode.

Maroon 5 is a god awful band taken from the last dregs of whatever youth Gen X was under the illusion they had left in 2005.

Any US based software engineers interested in working on tools for aerospace engineering? I have quite a few roles I'm about to open. Particularly focused on people who love building great product experiences and infra folks.

Guilty pleasure - listening to Dave Ramsey and John Deloney clips. The people who call - holy crap! I'm actually surprised Deloney exists in right wing media because his advice is usually pretty good.

Some days at this job be like "I'm gonna need you to talk to the other Rhodes scholar who works here because I am out."

Just read a list of Bay area bands, and while I wish there was a political statement to choosing Green Day, I think they are literally just the most popular. The other contenders would maybe be Dead Kennedy's, Counting Crows, Steve Miller Band and Stevie Nicks. It's all left leaning.

We have entered a time when the grocery store won't sell you fresh cranberries or fresh peaches. This is basically hell.

Behavioral euthanasia because the dog is not trustworthy in the world. I'm completely pro-vax, but whether autism or something else dog mental illness is 100% real and 100% has negative impact. So I wouldn't dismiss the fear.

Maggie Johnson-Pint @maggie.bsky.social · 22/01/2026

I show dogs. Dog show people were the *first* place I caught the anti-vax trend 20 years ago. When it showed up in people I was like "Holy shit"

Past two months have been a saga of moms illness, holidays, my illness and business travel. Going to start texting my friends to do things and hope they still exist 😅

At my mom's house, updating her list of prescription drugs. It is as if her printer has ghosts. 15+ years of software experience but I don't fix printers. This will have to wait until Matt gets here in two days.

Main lesson from driving Seattle to Rochester MN in December - Montanans should be single issue voters on plowing. Drove at 40mph for six hours over thick ice. The MINUTE I go over the Wyoming boarder - BOOM PLOW. And it's not like WY is a blue state that loves public works.

Just booked a corporate dinner at Marlaina's in Burien - great restaurant and the owner personally called to work out the menu. After booking I found this on their website. Some small businesses really deserve your money. Glad I went with this one!

I've seen quite a few articles about declining birth rates and his birth rates are declining even in very family friendly countries lately. I think the answer is simply "people are happier with fewer kids". Not sure if society can accept that.

Maggie Johnson-Pint @maggie.bsky.social · 30/10/2025

Youngest kid started wrestling. He also does cross country and swim. None of the rest of the family can figure out how he's normal. Blows our minds.

The most important restaurants to me are those that combine craft cocktails with food from anywhere in Asia. Harder to find than you would expect since it's intrinsically fusion. But I love it.

I quite like Bad Bunny even though I don't understand any Spanish and I'm very very confused by how this is hard for people. Like, I'd probably like his music even more if I did understand Spanish. But its good - anyone can tell.

There's really nowhere better to work than a well funded startup finding traction in a solid market other than developers. "Tier 1" big name tech is frankly exhausting to work for. "Tier 2" is where it's at.

BTW - Everyone in defense thinks about the best interests of Americans all the time. Don't let politics at the top lead you to believe the people on the ground are anything other than dedicated servants of America.

010

Maggie Johnson-Pint @maggie.bsky.social · 13/09/2025

Theres very weird tension to being a progressive working in defense. I spend lots of time wondering "Is this contract in the best interests of America at this tumultuous time?🤔" And then the engineer in me is like "wait... Tell me more about how it goes BOOM."

We stayed at the Arizona Biltmore a couple months ago and now I can't book a hotel to save my life because they are all not the Arizona Biltmore. This is like learning what first class airfare is like but more expensive.
