Just thinkin this morning. Softness and sitting with pain. ♡

The world wishes us to become harder
Its logic is that the world is dangerous and being hard protects you from the horrors that it brings into your life.
You wall yourself off from the pain and you are spared from the pain...
At least for a while...
But the horrors persist and the cognitive load builds and builds until the hardness cracks, until you crack.
And when your hard shell cracks, all of the pain you've held onto comes rushing into you and you're woefully unprepared for it... so you break.
I did this for a long time and it never did me any good, and the worst part is the hard shell that tried to protect me from pain was much more effective at keeping me from feeling all the most lovely things in my life.
Now that I have started embracing softness more and more, I feel more like a complete person. I'm not walling off parts of myself, and instead, I am learning to love the parts of me I was lead to believe as weakness.
It's made me stronger and more resilient emotionally. ♡
