Here's a good example. This is a completely reasonable take, yet it it was downvoted. Because the reason why people didn't like this change is it exposed them. Because people don't want their AI usage disclosed. They're ashamed of it.

Comment on a pull request by a censored user:
"I would not mind it defaulting to on, if it actually works: not only for Copilot, reliable listing the actual model versions used, differentiating between agendic creation and input completion. Being able to reference a session log, helping with logging the evidence needed to get indemification protection. And commit message preview for human."

GOOD NEWS FOR SIDELOADING: Google has kept their promise, and this advanced flow seems fairly reasonable. TL;DR, you'll have to reboot your phone and wait 1 day before you can turn it on, but you can turn it on indefinitely, which is great! (At least according to the current plans) source in reply

In late 2025, a wave of relief hit the tech community
when reports suggested Google was backing down.
The company mentioned a potential "advanced
flow" that would allow "experienced users" to
bypass these restrictions and accept the risks of
unverified software.
However, the coalition led by Keep Android Open
warns that this was a tactical distraction. According
to internal findings from the F-Droid team, no such
bypass mechanism is currently in development, and
no feedback has been sought fromoutside
stakeholders.
As it stands, the official documentation still points
toward a total lockdown. Until Google provides
