i still intend to write that review blog for the record, gone through a good amount of games, nowhere near done yet. S3 Other Circumstance is a huge highlight, kinda bummed out that it's a 1-act demo, presentation is on point and i want to see Chrome Gadget so bad.

For those unaware, Mega Man W had the engine it's build up on be released as open source. github.com/durdadan/Jum... it's still a WIP, and all stuff original to W has been removed, but it looks pretty neat and there's even some documentation.

watched the gameoverse pilot. wishing i had more positive things to say i did enjoy the pilot a fair bit.

giving it some thought i think my issue with the premise falls on that while it makes a lot more sense to apply this to videogames, due to glitches and corruptions being very much a thing, I don't like how the premise is essentially "game worlds stop existing as soon as the hero is done" because i think that just raises far too many questions for it to make sense to me or for me to really suspend my disbelief.

how about sequels? how about games that keep going after you finish them? how about literally any game that's continuously ongoing like a gacha? there's a lot of potential in exploring that but those questions really took me out of it. as well as the whole "we cant tell anyone about the gameoverse or bad shit will happen" which, okay, may be about the player losing immersion in the game and stopping caring about it, but to me it feels like a weird fucking crutch, especially considering that this pilot keeps things to be entirely within it's universe, not even acknowledging the existence of a player - which to be honest i do really like, i think it's better than having a player be constantly acknowledged and instead be the actions of the hero themselves causing the issue-, so what is enforcing this rule???

as well as the heroic faction and the villain faction Syntax, what is the goal of the heroic faction? - forget their name sorry - to just keep watching worlds break and take as many characters they can from it? considering how many game worlds exist that feels like it's just as pointless as it is endless. we know more about Syntax, wanting to supposedly get back those worlds, seeming to be a faction made up of game villains and all, which is interesting but like...

????
overall i really liked the pilot, i like the character design a lot, the voice acting is pretty good, the music is good and I liked the little game world this pilot made up, feels like an actual videogame.
i just find the premise to be... bad?

could be great but that'd be despite of it.
