#dkgreen #dkpol

Klart, det er måske lidt uheldigt formuleret. Min pointe er selvfølgelig, at Inger Støjberg har forstået, at klimapolitk handler om social retfærdighed – men så kommer med det helt forkerte svar på den analyse. ☺️

I have a new book coming out in Danish about the Anthropocene and theories of materialism on December 5. Although it's a tiny little book mostly aimed at students, I'm honestly quite nervous about contributing to the public 'intellectual debate' in Denmark. Tips and good wishes are welcome. 🙏

Yesterday, Danish politicians agreed to the world’s first carbon tax on the agricultural sector. That's great. Unfortunately, the agreement reflects much of what is wrong with Danish climate politics: instruments are too weak and it relies on technological fixes. #dkgreen #dkpol

I have wanted to write something like this since I first read Andreas Malm's 'The Progress of this Storm' in 2017 and felt that it set up poor conditions for a constructive dialogue between new materialism and marxist thinking. Let me know what you think!

“What difference would it make if we were instead to apply the criteria that we usually apply to novels (or even more to poetry) to academic writing? (…) if we had to write our academic pieces as if they were poems, as if every word counted, how would we write differently?”

Mads Ejsing @madsejsing.bsky.social · 04/10/2023
Yes, I often feel that way about academic books too. It reminds me of a passage from John Law's After Method (2004), where he ponders on what it would mean for academic books to be picked up for the sheer pleasure of their reading experience.
