A number of our students got the following comment back on a rejection for the NSF GFRP. They are in an eligible STEM field. Is this something people in other places are getting too? Is it a quirk or targeted?

Please if you know of others being returned without review let us know! No clear pattern that I can tell. Fwiw my student sent an appeal to email listed in rejection message and got a (form) response that their app was being further evaluated.

I recently moved my lab to Purdue University and am looking for graduate students. We are working at the interface of population genomics, quantitative genetics and functional genomics to understand how plants adapt to extreme environments. Reach out if you would like to discuss potential projects.

The world lost a hero today. She was a voice for the voiceless, a passionate conservationist, a pioneer for women in STEM, and one of my greatest role models. She inspired me to do what I do, and I will continue to work in celebration of her legacy. RIP Dr. Jane Goodall 💚🌱🐵

Texas Tech featured our research led by @madiraibullock.bsky.social in a video "Echos of Guadalupe" My favorite part is 15 minutes in when a current MS student, Mara Hosaka, describes how field experiences as an undergrad convinced her to go to graduate school. @ttu.edu made it possible!

"This is like a botanical time machine." Texas Tech researchers traveled to the Guadalupe Mountains National Park to collect plant specimens and continue work in the same place as another Tech professor and his student in the 1970s. youtu.be/4r3CeVzNddM?...

Interested in target capture sequencing? @madiraibullock.bsky.social and I are happy to announce a new service at TTU. Send us DNA, get reads enriched for your probes. Angiosperms353, GoFLAG, Compositae1061 & more! Funds go to grad student stipends and tuition! mossmatters.com/blog/TargetC...
Flyer for Target Capture DNA Sequencing at Texas Tech by the TTU Center for Biotechnology and Genomics. We provide targeted DNA sequencing for $30/sample for Angiosperms353, GoFLAG408, and other probe sets. Funds from our service go to fund a graduate student who is running the samples. We can use as little as 100 ng of DNA in 30 uL and provide at least 1 million reads per sample from a NovaSeq6000 SP 2x250 Illumina sequencing.

For more information and the full text of this flyer, visit mossmatters.com/blog/TargetCaptureService.html
