Been busy the last little while. I'm applying to volunteer with Scouts Canada with a local troop. 🤞 My plans if I can convince them will be to introduce these youngins to amateur radio (Morse might be too advanced), basic electronics, star gazing, and other nerdy stuff in a fun, and memorable way.

Hi, I just tried MLDX last night and I did the first thing that anyone does on a new logger. I looked up my own callsign. It's showing a mix of current information and a previous owner of the callsign who went SK in 2019. his first name, my last name, his grid. Can I ask where this info comes from?

You don't need the best gear... honestly a half decent Japanese radio (Yaesu, or iCom) and a good antenna, always a good antenna, don't skimp on that. I'm learning that the hard way now, good radio with a bad antenna.

The first transatlantic amateur radio signal was sent in 1901, that covered a distance of ~3380 Km. It was sent with 1.5kW of power no Amps. How far was YOUR longest QSO and do you recall the Tx power? I'll start 20w SSB Ottawa to Bucharest ~7,408 km by pure luck! #hamradio #amateurradio

I've had a couple of afternoons to test out my new QMX at home doing some POTA hunting, and I must say I'm super impressed. This little guy with 5W on a 17' whip antenna is reaching out > 1000Km, all in a setup that could fit in a fanny pack (sans the 17' antenna) #hamradio #amateurradio

How would one best locate a source of nearby RFI that starts at exactly 17:40 to the second? It’s not local to my home, but somewhere nearby. My noise floor on every HF band on every radio, goes from ~2 and hits ~7 right at that time, drowning out any HF comms. #hamradio #amateurradio
