The recent Lies of P anniversary has motivated me to get back into LoP lore, it seems. 😅 Anyway, here are some of my thoughts and musings in relation to Carlo's portrait, Listeners, and a particular Gold Coin Tree. ideas-on-paper.tumblr.com/post/8285483... #LiesOfP #LiesOfPOverture

On Carlo's portrait, Listeners & Gold Coin Trees

[Spoilers for Lies of P & Lies of P: Overture] Having finally gotten the Golden Lie in my third Lies of P playthrough, I couldn't help but notice that the decorations on its handle are shaped exactly....

As if #LiesOfP wasn't heartbreaking enough, I decided to make it even more so. 😅 Anyway, here is my personal take on a mystery that, even after Overture's release, still remains open: Carlo's death. archiveofourown.org/works/91974311 Btw: Happy 3rd LoP anniversary! ☺️🎂🎉 #fanfiction #fanfic

What if William from Valor Mortis and Pinocchio from Lies of P met? #ValorMortis #LiesOfP #soulslikes

William: Hey, cool arm you got there!
Pino: Oh! Uh… Thanks.

Sometime later…

William: Hey, guess what! I got a cool arm too, now.
Pino: Oh, nice! It looks… kinda more organic, though?
William: Yeah, I don’t know how it works, either - something about harnessing the positive effects of a plague or whatever.
Pino: *staring at him in deep concern*

Wanted to check out the @indiearenabooth.de lineup, but had to realize the website has been revamped so the order of games is always random. Quite irksome since I always checked out every game and noted down those I was interested in. Perhaps a "sort alphabetically" feature would help? #Gamescom

Ah, so that's the name of that painting! I knew it looked familiar. 😊 See, that's the additional joy with using historical art: You can actually learn something from it and get joy from recognizing it. So, I really don't know why they wouldn't use historical art instead...

000

Maddy Waves @maddywaves.bsky.social · 01/07/2026

Btw, I've had a conversation with someone before who said Antonia's portrait had John Singer Sargent vibes, but I didn't know about the specific piece it was based on. So, thanks for that! 😊

000

Maddy Waves @maddywaves.bsky.social · 01/07/2026

Looking at both portraits again (Carlo's and Antonia's), I couldn't spot any obvious giveaways myself, but then again, I'm not an artist. (Feel free to educate me, though!)

100

Maddy Waves @maddywaves.bsky.social · 01/07/2026

Woah, I never would've suspected Carlo and Antonia's main game portraits! I thought it was only the background props (I mean, not as if that wasn't bad enough already...), but if they used AI for any of the story-relevant portraits/pictures, that would be a major disappointment...

100

Maddy Waves @maddywaves.bsky.social · 01/07/2026

Oops, didn't know this was the sign you meant. 😅 All good! But yeah, the fact you even have to wonder these things is really depressing...

000

Maddy Waves @maddywaves.bsky.social · 30/06/2026

And yeah, it would've been a great opportunity for additional worldbuilding - for example that image with the ships, how about a painting showing Krat's harbor? And that map, how about sneaking in a peek of Krat's surrounding area? (Which I always assumed it was! >.<)

120

Maddy Waves @maddywaves.bsky.social · 30/06/2026

YESSS, that's exactly what I was thinking, too! LoP LOVES its historical references (I wrote multiple blog posts on its historical inspirations), so using real-life historical artworks instead would've been great. (Or maybe slightly altered versions of historical artworks to fit the LoP universe.)

110

Maddy Waves @maddywaves.bsky.social · 30/06/2026

Also, just to make sure: You mean the pictures of Baby Carlo from Overture, right? Those in the Rose Estate? (I remember there being a picture in the dormitory of Carlo, Romeo, and I believe Sophia together.)

(E.g. St. Frangelico Cathedral, Estella Opera House, Elysion Boulevard house interior) I did feel like they looked kinda iffy, but I just chose to believe they were kinda badly photoshopped. Now though, I'm not sure...

Would you mind linking that concept art with the Venigni Works sign? I went through the whole art book again looking for it, but I didn't spot it. Something I already noticed during my first flip through though were these pieces of concept art that look kinda blurry in a few places.

It means utterly mediocre, boring gameplay that I could never get the appeal of. It's literally everything I hate in video games. (And before you say "but the early games were better": I played the early games. I hated them anyway. In fact, I'd say AC2 is the worst game I ever played.) 2/2

Pro tip if you want to avoid pissing me off: Never, EVER mention "Assassin's Creed" to me. It means violation of the history of real-life people for the sake of science-fictiony conspiracy theories. It means marketing lies for the sole purpose of painting yourself as important. 1/2

Idk, but in my experience, the longer a franchise exists, the more it becomes a shadow of its former self. (At least that's how I feel about modern Fire Emblem and Monster Hunter.) I'm not opposed to game devs trying out new things, not at all - I just wish they'd leave old IPs alone with it. 2/2

Am I the only one who feels sort of anxious about #Neowiz making #LiesOfP into a franchise? Personally, I don't feel like I need a sequel to LoP - I'm perfectly happy with LoP as it is, and Overture already was a last-minute save for me (thanks to my own "Nightmare Theory"). 1/2

The evolution of my opinion on the LoP DLC, meme version #LiesOfP #LiesOfPOverture #LiesOfPDLC #memes

The galaxy brain meme, showing the progression of my opinion on the Lies of P DLC.
High brain activity: The DLC is set in the past
Extremely high brain activity: The DLC is set in the original timeline of Lies of P (when Sophia was still Lea) that is now "forgotten" due to Sophia's time manipulation skills
Mini brain: The DLC retcons the main game
Galaxy brain: The DLC is actually a fever dream of Lea (who is Sophia's past self*) born out of her unprocessed fears, guilt, wishes, and memories, and we have to help her escape from this nightmare by coming to terms with the past
*which is also why there are slight alterations to the main timeline after the DLC (cuz Sophia decides about what's "reality" in the LoP verse)
