also i highly recommend the yuka app. it'll tell you if products have ingredients that are likely to irritate sensitive skin or are allergens or endocrine disruptors and then links to scientific literature about them. here's what my sunscreen looks like in the app.

the yuka listing for purito's daily soft touch sunscreen. it has a 93/100 (excellent) rating. the only ingredient in its list that isn't risk free is propylene glycol, which is listed as low risk. risk-free ingredients are water, propanediol, dibutyl adipate, and dicaprylyl carbonate. there are more ingredients not captured in the screenshot.

yuka's explainer tab for propylene glycol. it says it is low risk. under "health risks" it lists "potential allergen" and "potential irritant". under details it says "Propylene glycol is a humectant and a solvent that's widely used in cosmetics. It can be of petrochemical or of plant origin. Although considered "generally safe" by the FDA in the United States and not harmful by the ECHA in Europe, it can nevertheless cause allergic reactions in certain sensitive people who might then develop dermatitis. Eye and skin irritation have also been reported in some studies. When it's derived from petrochemicals, the way in which it's obtained is extremely harmful to the environment. And lastly, its environmental biodegradation may require oxygen, thus affecting oxygen concentrations in receiving waters with potential effects on aquatic life."

my biggest tweet is from 2017 when I wrote an out of office email and got a really kind reply from the CEO. never done numbers like that since and that's probably okay since my notifications are *still* full of likes and retweets every day

Phoebe will not crawl into a lap ever and does not know how to ask for what she wants (rescued at age 9, does not know how to dog) so she has taken to sitting on the floor in front of the couch and licking the carpet until I pick her up and put her in my lap to keep her from doing it.
