And who is this one man? *Aerys eyes his son, wondering what his plan is*

You had better have a plan, my son, because otherwise our house may be seeing its last days.

And when we do, we must find a way to solidify our strength. Would that we had dragons.....

I pray to the gods that you are right. We must prevail.

They must be stopped and put in their place. The House of the Dragon must never cease to rule. //Plot twist: they squash rebellion and Aerys returns to his old self?

How do you propose to prevent it? They dislike my rule, the lot of them. My Kingsguard @gxldenlion.bsky.social is more loyal than most of them.

*Aerys is only seeing traitors. But as he hears his son's name, it's like his old self returns for a moment. It is not all traitors and betrayal* They plan to usurp me, usurp us.

Traitors, the lot of them! Who in Seven Hells might you be?

In fact, he sees nothing wrong with his rule. It is the rest of the realm that that has gone mad. Targaryens are closer to gods than men anyway. How could he not be a just ruler?

His son Rhaegar was killed at the Trident by Robert Baratheon. His younger children, Viserys and Daenerys, were sent on the run after Daenerys was born at Dragonstone during a storm. He himself was confronted by his own Kingsguard, Jaime Lannister. He never thought he was mad.

Aerys II Targaryen is better known as the Mad King. He is the father of Rhaegar, Viserys, and Daenerys Targaryen. He had caches of wildfire buried all over Kings Landing as he saw threats and enemies everywhere. Jaime Lannister, a member of Kingsguard, reported he repeated one phrase: Burn them all
